4.0 out of 5 stars an electronic love/hate musical masterpiece March 20, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
"Wow" is all you'll say after listening to "Sins of the Flesh" for the first time. Being the band's first album, there are wonderful stylistic congruencies between the songs, which define a sound that is difficult to put your finger on. Sometimes slow and melodic, other times fast and pounding, it's like riding a one-hour emotional roller'll need some prozac when you're done.......
Some personal favoreet tracks:
"Not My God" has such a good chorus- I find myself screaming along everytime I listen.
"Addiction" tells a story of obsession, more than love. Best lyrics on the album. Haven't we all been through something like this?
"Why Not" I like this one personally, it's slow and deliberate. The tone of voice and content are perfectly lined up with the mood of the song.
"Degenerate" AMAZING won't believe it.
Basically, I guess what I'm trying to say is that EVERy song here is a piece to a bigger puzzle...the order was deliberate and effective.
And you'd be hard-pressed to find a better voice that Chris Randall's. I haven't. He can serenade you one second and scream at you another.
"Sins of the Flesh" is VERY electronic, but in the good way. Everything's a masterpiece because there are obvious influences (well in MY opinion anyways) but in no way does it ever submit to convention.
You owe it to yourself to check it out- just don't look for a love song here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can you feel it?!!!!? August 5, 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
S.O.T.F is the dayview album from sister machine gun and an awesome one at that, it's rich with that certain "sound" that all the other originals from the industrial-realm had at that time. Great stuff, what do you expect when Sascha from KMFDM produced ,Al jourgensen from MINISTRY helped with guitars and David Olgivie from SKINNY PUPPY mixed the music for the album? Even tho the lp had traces from it's influences, "NIN" & "Kmfdm", Sins of the Flesh has it's own originality & atmosphere. and no one can argue that. Let's not forget lead singer Chris randall was one of the first to make a hybrid of distorted voice filters, electronica & indie metal all in one, and helped keep industrial afloat at the dawn of the early 90's. (you can look that up if you need clarity). A great dayview and to think, it only got better from here! Also Sister machine gun came together in 1989 some sites post a wrong date.and this album came out in 1992, some sites accidentally post it as 1993.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you like NIN pretty hate machine, this is for you! February 15, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is very good NIN type industrial rock. Songs are similar to "head like a hole". I would rate "pretty hate machine" slightly higher, also not as edgy as "broken" which is five star material. SMG came from wax trax records which was the top industrial record label in america (ministry et al) This guys voice even sounds like trent! Buy and enjoy

4.0 out of 5 stars Sister Machine Gun was great from the get-go. October 27, 2001
Format:Audio CD
I hadn't listened to Sister Machine Gun after their second album ("The Torture Technique", which was also pretty good), but I can safely say that their origins showed promise. Frontman Chris Randall earned his rep as a live boardman for KMFDM during their tour and pressed Sascha Konietzko to give his demo Wax Trax! Records. In time, Sascha became more involved with producing SMG and the result was "Sins of the Flesh". The comparisons to Nine Inch Nails' "Pretty Hate Machine" are obvious and already well-documented in the other reviews, so I won't overstate it. "Addiction", "Not My God", and "Degenerate" are all staples of industrial music. Their cover of The Commodores' "X-Rated Movie" is slick and sexy (I'm waiting for them to cover "Brick House" next).
