Revenge never tasted so sweet . . .

When Clayton Campbell shows up on her doorstep, Olivia Swift is stunned. For long ago, Clayton was the boy who stole her heart. He's also the man her betrayal had sent to the gallows. A man she believed dead, now standing before her, looking leaner, harder, more powerful than ever, his haunted eyes filled with a lust she had never seen—for vengeance . . .

Or burned so hot . . .

He has more than once faced death and escaped unscathed. Yet Clayton Campbell cannot deny that the sight of Olivia rouses in him something more than a thirst for revenge. Or that the bold beauty would lure him once more into a dangerous game. Only this time, Clayton plans to be the victor— with the tempting Olivia in his bed as his prize. But once passion ignites between them, the hard-hearted agent will face his greatest battle yet— for his heart . . .

Sins of a Ruthless Rogue is the second book in Anna Randol's Sinners Trio. It's an exciting tale of betrayal and forgiveness, all wrapped up in a story which proves that love really can conquer all - if you'll only give it the chance!

To say this story has everything is to say the least. Rogues and revolutionaries, treason and torture, murder and mayhem, blackmail, scandal, revenge... spies, agents, thugs, assassins, princes, princesses, czars, peasants... seriously... this story has it all, including a believable romance and some steamy lovin'. It's a uniquely intriguing tale with compelling characters, and I loved every minute I spent reading it!

And speaking of compelling characters! The first glimpse we're given of Clayton and Olivia are as a young, engaged couple. Clayton is a noble, honorable idealist, and Olivia a fairly naive, spoiled young woman. They both think they're doing the right thing, for the right reason, but in the end, both are devastated. When next we see them, it's ten years later, and they are so far removed, so very different from the people they had once been. Both have been betrayed in one sense or another and they've learned that it's safer to trust no one but themselves. And this, believe it or not, in my opinion, is where the beauty of their love is born.

One of my favorite things about this story is the happy ending which, because it wasn't easy to get there, felt so real! So believable! To have any hope of surviving this deadly mission, Clayton and Olivia have to trust one another enough to share their secrets, and to put the past behind them. Trust... no relationship is worth having - or can survive - without it, and that's the lesson they have to learn.

I liked the way this story began. A printer's daughter, Olivia, meets clandestinely with her father's clerk, Clayton. The pair are in love. Clayton is 17, Olivia 15. Clayton asks Olivia if he can trust her with a secret. She says yes. Turns out Clayton has discovered Olivia's father has printed extra banknotes and is effectively stealing. He wants to tell Olivia before he goes to the authorities. Olivia can't believe her father would do such a thing, and the second Clayton is gone, she breaks her promise and runs to Papa to clear up the misunderstanding. You can guess the rest. Clayton is imprisoned and Olivia is told he was hanged. She carries on in life under a terrible burden of guilt because she learns later that her father actually committed the crime. This is all in the five-page prologue. I wish I had stopped there.

In chapter one Clayton returns a decade later with vengeance on his mind. He wants to shut down the mill and ruin Olivia and her father. This is where it all goes to hell in a handbasket. Without warning, Sins of a Ruthless Rogue careens out of control into a confusing road trip spy romp. It seems Clayton wasn't hanged all those years ago because he was recruited by the Crown to be a spy instead. While you're scratching your head over that one, get this, Olivia is kidnapped because of Clayton's teenaged love letters which were evidently sent in some unbreakable code. By a 17-year-old. To his girlfriend. Who decoded them. I could go into more detail why this makes no sense, but trust me, it makes no sense. Based entirely on this and Clayton's return to the town, the kidnappers think she's the top secret spy Clayton has partnered with throughout the past decade.

SINS OF A RUTHLESS ROGUE by Anna Randol is an exciting Regency Historical Romance set in 1817 London and Russia. Fast paced and action packed. Written with Ms. Randol usual style of adventure, danger, romance, betrayal, intrigue and passion. This is Clayton Campbell, the Wraith and Olivia Swift's story. Olivia's betrayal almost sent Clayton to the gallows year prior, now he is set on revenge or is he? Love this author's stories, and this one was no different. Filled with just the right amount of danger, and passion, you can not go wrong with "Sins of A Ruthless Rogue". The Wraith, is ruthless until it comes to his lady love, Olivia, than all bets are off. A must read! Received for an honest review from the publisher and Edelweiss.

I love this wonderfully unique series that is quickly making Anna Randol one of my favorite Regency romance authors. The series is about the trials and tribulations of three infamous spies who are now retired and embarking on their new lives and finding love along the way. Each book is a thrill packed adventure for these three very unique leads. I was privileged to review the first book , Sins of a Virgin , and was impressed with the Ms. Randol's writing style as well as her vibrant characters and clever dialogue. Sins of a Ruthless Rogue is Cipher's story and this time the author takes the readers on an exciting journey to St. Petersburg, Russia.

Clayton Campbell is exactly what his country made of him. A ruthless man who will destroy anyone that gets in his way. Years ago, he was condemned as a traitor and sentenced to hang for another persons crime. Now he's back and out for revenge against those who betrayed him. As a young girl , Olivia betrayed the boy she loved. By the sin of omission she let him be blamed for her own father's crime. Just as Clayton is set to destroy all that she loves Olivia is mistaken for a spy and kidnapped by political zealots. Even though Clayton is angry at Olivia he wastes no time in racing to her rescue her from danger.

I liked the characters even more in this second book. The intriguing Clayton was dark and dangerous... the perfect hero. Olivia was a spunky heroine who owned her mistakes and tried to make up for them. This story was more action packed than the first one and seemed to move at a super fast pace. Readers who are paying extra attention may catch a glimpse of whats to come in the third and final book of this series. At least I hope so because I'm breathlessly awaiting the enigmatic Ian's story. I'll give this book four stars and gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a historical romance filled with suspense and intrigue.
