That resonant line introduced Lulu to America in 1967, and helped deliver one of the biggest hits of that year (five weeks atop the Billboard 100). For Americans at least, To Sir, With Love was the event that put Lulu on the map. She not only sang its title track, but starred in the film opposite Sidney Poitier. This overdue CD reissue contains three versions of her signature song, which might seem excessive if they weren't so individually interesting. There's an amazing 12-string guitar, minor-key rendition that--ever so slightly--shifts the song's emotional tone from wistful to resignation. Swinging London also-rans, and future 10cc members The Mindbenders--who here sound like the band Love minus the menace or melodic whimsy--offer two tracks, and a handful of underscore selections round out an album that charmingly evokes the flush of its time. --Matt Hanks

I just saw the film on AMC last night for the first time in 10 years and I still love it. I love the soundtrack moreso. The Mindbenders were excellent. I just just could never find the songs anywhere. What timing! This is great. Thank you!

My husband and I were dating at the time the movie came out. He took me to see it seven times. He also bought me the album and just recently the video. I have been hoping the soundtrack would be released on CD. Thank you Mr. Grainer and Lulu.

I owned this soundtrack on vinyl many years ago and just loved it. I've been waiting for it to be released on CD for many years. No one can forget Lulu's title hit. But when you hear The Mindbenders for the first time in years you'll feel like you're in high school again. Please rush me this CD as soon as it becomes available.
