Described as "an in depth guide to the world of S&M/leathersex", it includes information under several main headings subdivided into numerous sections, interspersed with brief passages of S&M fiction along with some purportedly true personal experiences.
Much of the information concentrates on the safety aspects, both on potential physical harm and the risk of infection, with some information on history or origins where appropriate, but it is often scant and lacking in any depth. There is no indication either has to how some are able to accept some of the more extreme practices or as to what makes the treatments or devices work or produce the intended effect.
None of the sections makes a particularly inspiring or titillating read; altogether a rather disappointing book.

Finally a no holds barred account of the dark and often misunderstood world of corporal punishment. A genuine whipcracker of a book that will have you unable to sit in your seat. Gary Blom Sydney Australia
