Illus. in full color. "The tallest person is no taller than a toothpick in the town of Pee Wee, and when Lady Teena is abducted by a dragonfly, a tiny knight, riding his trusty ant, rescues the miniature maiden. Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Kindergarten-Grade 2 A simple but clearly crafted text for the youngest readers. O'Connor's book, set in the town of Pee Wee, includes a gallant and brave knight; a damsel in distress; and a butcher, a baker, and a candlestick maker who are truly knaves. Concrete information about the size of the people and buildings ("the tallest person was no taller than a toothpick") is given in the story so that readers could easily construct a scene to scale. On every page, large, bright watercolor illustrations, detailed with pen, are immensely appealing. O'Brien paints from a variety of bird's eye perspectives. This visual treat combined with large type and a delightful story of heroine rescue will make this book popular with beginning readers. Gale W. Sherman, Pocatello Public Library, Idaho

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful starter book!, March 7, 2000
This review is from: Sir Small and the Dragonfly (Step-Into-Reading, Step 2) (Paperback)
Though the book is listed as being for ages 4-8, we bought the book for my then 2-year-old son and it quickly became his favorite bedtime book. The story is adorable, as are the illustrations - and it's overriding message that it's okay to be different and that it's what's inside that counts - is very happy and positive. Even before he can actually read the words, my son has memorized the text, and actually quotes it back, complete with his own sound effects. It's a joy to read, and a book I highly recommend to all parents with toddlers!

5.0 out of 5 stars Encouraged my boy to read more., September 1, 2006
This review is from: Sir Small and the Dragonfly (Step-Into-Reading, Step 2) (Paperback)
This book was so great. It encouraged our son to pick up more unfamiliar books to read. He loves it so much that he puts on shows using action figures, puppets, and sometimes just socks. I recommend it highly

4.0 out of 5 stars Good beginner book, but a little surprise, July 22, 2008
This review is from: Sir Small and the Dragonfly (Step-Into-Reading, Step 2) (Paperback)
My two year old daughter enjoys this book. The pictures and story are good for her age group. While reading it to her like the 5th or 6th time I noticed on page 18 it appears the illustrator stuck a picture of lady flashing her breasts in the window. The color of the curtains are a pink flesh, without a line down the middle and two carefully placed dots. I don't think my daughter will ever catch on, but I don't scour books for little things like this. If he hid anything else like this I haven't noticed yet.
