Sirenian Shores,

This was kind of a neat album. I liked the title track a fair bit; it starts out with a nice intro. I also loved the acoustic version of Meridian. Save Me from Myself is not a song I have ever liked, but if you like the song, the remix is not bad. Obire Mortem is also a really good song, and the cover of First We Take Manhattan is decent. My only complaint is that there are not more new songs on this, which is why I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I don't know that it is worth the $9 charged on this site, but if you can find it for cheaper, you might want to get it.

The title track is great. I like Sirenia now but the older stuff is evenbetter. (Maybe because Tristania is one of my favorite bands and it is similar to that - no coincidence since Morten Veland was with Tristania and early Sirenia is similar.) "Save Me from Myself" - The remix here is better than the one one the album "An Elixir for Existence" . On the album it's bland and not one of my favorites. Here it's much more fun. "First We Take Manhatten" is good.."Obire Mortem" is monks chanting for a contrast with the rest. "Meridian Acoustic" - THe opposite of "Save Me from Myself" - I prefer the non-acoustic version. This one is ok..just not stellar. For an EP it's a great value and a good example of goth metal for those not familiar with the genre. The composition, musicianship and production are top notch with this EP and Sirenia in general. Buy it.

Sirenia - Sirenian Shores,

Another great band in the history of Music. In my country, this kind of Music is not listened as much as "Reggaeton", "Vallenato" and "Pop". But people who likes this kind of music agree with me. I use to collect the complete discography of the bands I like such as "Nightwish", "After Forever", "Epica", "Odes Of Ecstasy", "Penumbra", "Haggard", "To Die For", etc... There are a lot of good artists who play different genres, styles, etc... but "Gothic Metal" and "Doom Metal" bands are a big revolution.

not typical sirenia,

as you might expect from a 'remix' album, Morten Veland has not pumped out 5 more tracks that sound like an extension of Elixier, released in 2004. Instead, this EP showcases a couple of tracks that are entirly, compellingly, awesomely beautiful.except the first track. sirenian shores is entirly typical sirenia, but it sounds amazingly too much like Tristania - ...of Ruins and a Red Nightfall. hmmmmmmmm.... now why would that be? <sarcasm> moving onto the good stuff. the acoustic version of meridian begins with a plucked guitar that sounds so enchanting a friend of mine recently used it as her entrance music for her wedding. she then used the remix of save me from myself, which is rather more dynamic than the original, as the entrance for her bridesmaids. yea, that's not typical sirenia; she'd be shocked if i ever showed her the original 'meridian.' the other songs include: 'First We Take Manhattan,' a cover that once again is not typical Sirenia. Veland abandons his death growl for this aggressively melancholy track that reminds me a little of Depeche Mode. finally 'Obire Mortem' is a short, dark choir-driven piece that sounds like it belongs in the soundtrack for Constantine or some such. overall this is well worth it for the acoustic meridian and the remix of save me from myself. the others are OK but nothing to ge too excited about. 4 stars for unoriginality on the first and last tracks.

never received it,
This review is from: Sirenian Shores (Audio CD)
Not just i did not receive this CD but also did not get a reply to my e-mails. I did receive a form letter informing me to wait and contact you latter. I have done that but now months have passed and still no CD, no reply, no refund. That is fine but you just lost a costumer.Of note, i clearly cannot "hate" the product without hearing it but i also cannot send my comment if the product is not "rated." So, for those of you planning to buy this CD just ignore my remarks .. .hope you will receive it. kk |
