3.0 out of 5 stars I'm going out on the unpopular limb here
First, I have to say that I probably went into this book a bit biased. I found the cover model particularly unappealing for a romance novel. He kinda reminded me of that guy from Full House. He just plain didn't do it for me (nor did he appear to fit the description of the hero).

Also, I happen to like trashy romance novels and lots of lovin'. This book...

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance! Adventure! Mystery! And just great fun! A great read for all!, July 21, 2008
This review is from: Siren's Song (Leisure Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Siren's Song grabs the attention of the reader from the 1st page. The reader is quickly thrust into an exciting world of foreign lands and its possible hidden dangers. The vivid descriptions draw you into Alexandra Stafford's world and her adventures. Worthington, her hero counterpart, is a perfect foil to Alexandra's personality. Quick, fierce action combined with elegant murmurs of romance will fill the reader's heart. Trish Albright delights her readers with the thrust and parry of her words so that all become enchanted and tantalized with the romance between Alexandra and Worthington.

I had given up on romances until now...From the moment I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down! I had to know what happened to Alexandra before I went to bed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action packed adventure!, July 3, 2008
This review is from: Siren's Song (Leisure Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Siren's song is a delightful blend of fantasy and adventure. It's fast pace will have you breathless before the end of chapter one and keep you riveted through to the final word. It's a great love story and a tenderly crafted family story. Through Ms. Albright's vivid description, understanding of the history of the era, her research of the high seas, and her willingness to create tension and emotion on every page, she has created a great page turner.

5.0 out of 5 stars A CRISP, ENJOYABLE, FUN READ, June 25, 2008

This review is from: Siren's Song (Leisure Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a delight to read. The story is fun, the improbable heroine is so well written she becomes believeable in context. This is swashbuckling at its best with some really well researched treasure. The dialogue is exceptional. This is a first novel and I'm hoping that Ms Albright is working hard on the second.

5.0 out of 5 stars Siren's Song, April 2, 2011
This review is from: Siren's Song (Leisure Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Trish Albright, your book was an adventure that took me all over the world. I loved every page until the very end!
I can not wait for the movie to come out. Alex is the Indiana Jones and Captain and Commander of the time.
I really enjoyed her hero Jashua too. They where really great togethe.
Those producers in Hollywood better get a hold of you before someone else does.
Great job Trish, I can not wait to give all my friends a copy of the book because I am not parting with mine!

5.0 out of 5 stars New favorite author, July 11, 2008
This review is from: Siren's Song (Leisure Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Trish Albright is tops at writing compelling dialog and rip-roaring action scenes.

This high-seas romance had me hooked from the first page to the last. What would Captain Alexandra Stafford do next? What dangers would her arch-rival Paxton throw at her? Would Alex and Joshua ever be together again?

I suggest you get this book and read it -- and any others you can find by this fantastic author.

3.0 out of 5 stars I'm going out on the unpopular limb here, November 13, 2008

First, I have to say that I probably went into this book a bit biased. I found the cover model particularly unappealing for a romance novel. He kinda reminded me of that guy from Full House. He just plain didn't do it for me (nor did he appear to fit the description of the hero).

Also, I happen to like trashy romance novels and lots of lovin'. This book does not go beyond a few somewhat chaste kisses. That is something important to know if you are buying the book.

The characters were well written, vivid and witty. The dialogue, however was not time-period appropriate (at all). Hello! Half of them are English, the other half American (and even some Moraccan's in there) in 1787. They should not be talking like 21st century young adults. As for the action, while it's great for a movie, it doesn't translate to book form very well. In a book I expect a bit more substance, not as much running around and descriptions of oozing wounds (which really don't bother me, actually, but just seem out of place in a romance novel).

For a first novel this is a decent product, for the most part. In general, it's not really that great. It's okay. Which is what a 3 star rating is, come to think of it. ;)

So, I guess my suggestions would be more sex, more plot, less movie-style action, and a better cover model.

4.0 out of 5 stars exciting late eighteenth century pirate romance, June 29, 2008
This review is from: Siren's Song (Leisure Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Alexandra Stafford loves sailing the high seas especially as the captain of her ship. Although danger can come from pirates, slave traders, official navies, the weather, or in her case her stalking enemy Paxton nothing fazes the courageous sailor. Even when she captured and sold into slavery in Monaco, Alex remains optimistic as she assumes this is another adventure for her.

That is until the Duke of Worthington, Joshua rescues Alex from slavery. Afterward he meets her at galas hosted by the Ton in London. He already admired her spirit and has a desire to help her learn the meaning of a prophecy involving the SIREN'S SONG although he fears for her life. She feels fear for the first time in her life as she prays her obsession will not lead to the death of her beloved Joshua or her family

This an exciting late eighteenth century action-packed pirate romance in which Captain Trish Albert and her crew of readers sail the seven seas. The plot is a bit over the top, but no one will care because of Alex who sets the tone with her courage and need to know; which proves infectious as the admiring audience will want to know also.
