Great product to use Sirius in a vehicle with factory XM Radio,

This review is from: Sirius SCVDOC1 Sirius Connect Plug & Play Vehicle Dock (Electronics)
I purchased this product for use in a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe with factory XM Radio. I prefer the music and comedy on Sirius to that available on XM. Even though the companies are trying to merge, I also like using a portable satellite tuner so I can have satellite radio in both my vehicles and my home without having to pay for multiple subscriptions.
I use this dock with a HONSC1 tuner interface, a Sportster 5, and an adapter that allows me to use the factory XM roof mounted antenna. The Sportster 5 is mounted in the glove box. The OEM radio display shows the proper Sirius category, channel name, channel number, artist, and song title. The OEM radio display scrolls when song or artist names are more than 16 characters, just like it does for the factory XM Radio. Sound quality is good and all of the factory radio controls work, including the steering wheel mounted controls. One point to note is that channel up/down on the steering wheel will not allow you to scroll through Sirius presents, it always does channel up/down. It is not a big deal as you can just reach over and push the preset button you want on the radio itself. Overall, it is a great product that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to use a portable Sirius tuner in a vehicle that has factory XM Radio.

Perfect Match for Pioneer Head Units that support Instant Replay,

I bought a top of the line Pioneer head unit because it is the only maker of satelite head units (that I could find) that support instant replay (to avoid commercials, to listen to a song I liked again, to go back when I have one of thost "what was that" moments, etc.). That being said, be sure you get this Sirus SCVDOC1 vehicle dock and a sirius player which is compatible with that dock and supports instant replay. (For a good rundown, see [...]). Great docking station for my application. I highly recommend it! Note that the most common tuner you will see for a remote Sirius install ... the SCC1 Universal Tuner ... DOES NOT support inistant replay!

Wrong Description,

The description of this product is wrong. It should indicate a "B" at the end since it does not come with an antenna.

It works. Things it should do better:
- No need for the eject button - none of the other cradles have this button, and is more annoying that useful - No way to easily surface mount this unit, but would be very useful in the applications this is designed for. Regardless, it does what I need it to. It is stuffed away in my boat so I don't have to see it, and controlled well with the Sirius Alpine Tuner with my Alpine head unit.

I bought this to interface my Sirius Sportster 5 with a Pioneer touch-screen dvd head unit. The product is a great way to connect a portable sirius radio with an aftermarket head unit. This kit allowed me to remotely mount my Sportster 5 in the glove box and out of sight.

Installation system to connect the Sirius sat receiver to my vehicle works great. The only problem that I encountered was finding a location for the dock inside my vehicle. While this may not be a concern for many people, just be aware of the dimensions of the dock and where you would like to place it. I ended up attaching mine to the front of the dash using a silicon glue. Otherwise it works great!

The good; The bad...,

The Good...
Considering "the bad", a 3-star rating is pretty huge for this product. This is due to the fact that, when working properly this unit is the best thing that has happened to my satellite radio since the merger. Or at least sine the Artie/Teddy fight. By using my Sportster 5 as a tuner, I (A) Can avoid paying an extra fee to have Sirius in my home AND car and (B) don't have to waste the $160 radio I bought when I first signed up. Best Buy neatly installed the dock right in the cubby underneath my head-unit. When 'On', "Sirus Connect" is displayed on the Sportster while I control it through my head-unit - little doggy logo and all. It's so cool. The Bad... Had it installed last weekend, and since then it has twice gone out on me. Randomly I will turn the car on and the Sirius dock will be receiving no power at all. Twice I've brought it back to Best Buy and twice they've had to reset the tuner and wuala, it works again. They told me this happens quite a bit, but I don't want to taint the image of this product by what the people at Best Buy tell me - it could be their fault. But I don't think it is faulty wiring as much as a faulty wire. They told me another customer has brought her vehicle back 5 times and each time, all they can figure out is that if they reset the tuner, it regains power. Next time I'm gonna have them re-mount the hidden interface underneath my steering column so I can reset the tuner myself. I love the thing so much that I'm willing to go through the hassle.

DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE A STILETTO 2 -- IT DOES NOT WORK,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I have tried two of these to control my Stiletto 2. Neither work. Stiletto 2 just keeps rebooting, occasionally the receiver will see the tuner, other times not, but even when it sees the tuner, the Stiletto 2 just keeps rebooting. Tried multiple firmware updates on Stiletto, same thing happens. With crappy hardware like this, I wonder about the future of SiriusXM, and I am a huge fan being a subscriber since 2003. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
I would have given this a zero score if Amazon allowed.

Nice..but not exactly what I wanted for the Stiletto 2,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I got this for my Stiletto 2 as a replacement for my Sirius SLV2 car kit. I couldn't really find another car kit for the Stiletto 2 anywhere and this seemed like a good replacement. The SLV2 that I did have just used the AUX input and supplemental cigarette lighter jack in my 2008 Honda Accord. I didn't realize it when I bought it, but this connection is a 8-pin hard line that plugs into some stereos for power and connection then a plug in for the satellite antenna (included). After looking online I couldn't find out if my stereo had the inputs, so I took out my stereo all to find out it doesn't. I had to buy the Directed Electronics HONSC1 Honda/Acura SiriusConnect Tuner Interface to get to work. The HONSC1 interfaced with my XM satellite in my trunk and used it to run to my Stereo.
I thought this would be nice because I could use my XM satellite controllers, which I could. The only thing is that with my Stiletto 2, I normally had recorded music or programs that I wanted to listen to, and I couldn't now. And I can't now save any songs or pause like I had before. All it has on the Stiletto screen is "SIRIUS CONNECT". It makes my very nice Stiletto 2 into a dumb tuner. I very much preferred the SLV2 over this one, but that's all I could do. I'm sure a lot of people with standard tuners wouldn't mind.
