5.0 out of 5 stars great way to send your sportster thru the house, December 21, 2005

I've had a great experience with both the Sportster and this home kit. Contrary to another review, my home kit did come with the FM modulator antenna and it sends the sportster signal throughout my house. I live in Philly, so we're less reliant on the sky signals (we, like many cities, have ground repeaters).

The RCA connector into my stereo system gives perfect digital sound.

For those who want a boombox or to record on cassette (I will be taping Howard!), I recommend the Sony CFD-G500 CD Radio Cassette Recorder Boombox (Black). This is the only boombox I can find that has an audio-in jack. You can connect your Sportster Home kit right to the boombox and listen through the boombox. This is a better option than the Sportster Boombox because it has CD, cassette and FM capabilities, too, for less money.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Accessory, October 10, 2005

This is the way to go if you want to use your Sportster in the house. It hooks up just like any other audio component exept you don't have to use the audio cable if you don't want to. Hook it up, position the antenna, pop in your Sportster and you're done. It has four rubber feet on it that grip smooth surfaces like suction cups so it doesn't slide around when you push the buttons.

I had to take one star off because there is no antenna for the FM modulator. The cradle for the car kit includes a small antenna that will optimize the output of the FM modulator for clearer reception if you need it. A house is way bigger than a car so if you might need it in a car you really might need it in a house.

1.0 out of 5 stars Antenna requires an exact, secure location., March 6, 2007
This review is from: Sirius SP-H2 Sportster Home Docking Station (Electronics)
I was unable to get a consistent, satisfactory signal with this unit because of the antenna; the rest of the unit worked fine.

I found that unless you had perfect exposure to the satellite that this antenna did not receive the signal very well. Also, the least movement of the connecting cord or if someone moved a blind/curtain, this would disturb the exact positioning required to make this antenna function properly.

In the end I returned this unit and got an extra car antenna (the one with the strong magnet); this allowed me to put an extension cord under the window sill to the outside. From here, I was able to easily find a site for the magnetic antenna that resulted in excellent satellite reception (exact positioning is not nearly as important for the magnet antenna). Since then my home unit has worked perfectly.

So...0 Stars for the headache in finding a secure, undisturbed spot for this unit. Makes you wonder if anyone at the company ever tried this unit before it went to market.
