Doesn't like batteries
on March 20, 2011
So we get this seemingly ass kickin' sirius/xm boom box on the beach, works great for 30 minutes, then it shuts itself off, I change batteries, (rechargables), it goes off after 5 minutes, I buy new regular batteries, figuring it's the rechargables, it goes off after 2 minutes. Figured it has overheat shut off protection like a computer, and 158F internally seems to be the max operating temp according to websites, so I bring it home and check it out with batteries, guess what it still shuts itself off after 5 minutes on batteries, yet stays on if plugged in! I have no explanation now. If it wasn't the heat then I have no idea what the hell is happening with just batteries. It defeats the whole reason I bought it! I hear if the voltage falls below a certain point, it shuts off. So then I got it replaced in the hopes it was a defective unit, guess again, same deal! I emailed audiovox who said to email SiriusXM, I emailed SiriusXM about it, they said take it to your audio dealer it may be an installation issue! Huh? Installation? IT'S A BOOM BOX! WTF! I use it with the mirge, so maybe it's that?!? I have no other explanation, and SiriusXM customer service is the worst....
