5.0 out of 5 stars Quick, Funny, Entertaining, I loved it!!
I finished this book in two days, which is rare for me, but I couldn't put it down. It was just so entertaining! I have loved all of Jane Heller's books, and this book really makes me want to visit Stuart, Florida! The only thing that didn't make sense was why would a highly paid daytime TV writer buy a used 1982 Pontiac?? Other than that, this was a thoroughly...

3.0 out of 5 stars Rah Rah Rah
Another fun read by Jane Heller. This book follows the typical Jane Heller formula: heroine is a likeable, smart, successful woman who discovers new love when least expected. Story is fast paced and filled with witty repertoire. There are scumbag men involved in illegal dealings. Heroine outsmarts everyone and saves the day. Endings are tad unbelievable but story leaves...

5.0 out of 5 stars Sensational!, July 11, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Sis Boom Bah (Hardcover)
What a fun book about sibling rivalry! I loved that the sisters had to 'play nice' for their mother's sake...this book was very cleverly written, good characters, good plot and a good mystery. I had no idea what to expect when I picked this up--but I read it in one night and am ready to read more of Heller's books!

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable book to cool off with on hot summer's day!, July 5, 2006
This review is from: Sis Boom Bah (Paperback)
Although marketed as a sibling rivalry story, that plot seemed secondary to the hilarious amateur detective storyline, as Deborah uses her skills as a soap-opera writer to solve the homicide investigation rocking this sleepy Florida beach community. Very witty, with snappy dialogue, I breezed through this fast-paced story in one day!

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun book, March 22, 2005
This review is from: Sis Boom Bah (Paperback)
What do you get when you cross two sisters who cant seem to get along, one dead guy, and a mother with who just suffered a heart attack? Well, you get a fun light read that is the perfect get away from the big novels.

Deborah Peltz worked in NYC writing for a well known soap opera. She was unlucky in love and getting bored with her job so when her mother became ill she decided to throw the career away and start fresh down in Florida so she can be closer to home.

Sharon Peltz, has been married to three losers and is looking for husband number four. She is a wedding planning in Boca Raton and has taken care of her mother for years and she was not happy when younger sister Deborah stepped in to help.

The two sisters both take a liking to their mothers cardiologist who saved her in the emergency room. Both girls promised to stay away from Dr. Hirshon but somehow ended up at his house on the same night only to find him dead in the den. As the police held the girls under suspicion of murder, Deborah vowed to clear her name. She began searching for clues and interviewing suspects only to find herself right in the middle of the investigation. To save the day, Deborah must put her differences with Sharon aside and save her sister because she was in danger.

Jane Heller is always good for a light easy read and I would suggest you pick up this book and read one afternoon while sitting out on the beach. You will love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the third one for me....., October 19, 2000
This review is from: Sis Boom Bah (Paperback)
This is the third book for me that I have read from this author. My friend "turned me on" to Jane Heller and I am hooked! I start them and cannot put them down.

This one really rings true to me because I have a sister.

The story is about two women who are sisters and they come together because their mother has a heart attack. She survives and they meet the mother's cardiologist and he takes an interest in them both. They agree not to date him, but they go one night to meet with him, both not telling the other. Unbeknowst to them they find him murdered and they are framed.

Deborah, not wanting this murder on her hands, tries to find the real killer. It is very well written how Jane Heller twists the story line around and finishes with a blast!

I loved this book, I recommend it to all.

Ellen

4.0 out of 5 stars An entertaining, quick read!, August 31, 2000
By
This review is from: Sis Boom Bah (Paperback)
I love to read but I am not a quick reader so for me a book has to be (1) good enough to keep my interest for a long time, and (2) simple (no BIG words -- save those for work!), and (3) entertaining and up-lifting. This book meets all these requirements! I loaned this book to a frazzled friend for therapy and now she is a Jane Heller fan too. Also read "Crystal Clear" -- perfect for those long hours at the airport!

I enjoy all of her books, but this one was the funniest yet. An easy read, with enough unpredictable and outrageous scenes to keep you interested from start to finish. Can't recommend highly enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting perspective on relationships between sisters, May 11, 2004
By
This review is from: Sis Boom Bah (Paperback)
Jane Heller writes a fun and exciting book most young adults and adults can enjoy. The story of two completely different sisters is interesting and entertaining. The ideas of careers and the well thought out detail in every seen of the book was something you had to love. Heller develops a strong story line and easily draws a comparison and still contracts the two main characters Deborah and Sharon Peltz. Her addition of a murder mystery to a realistic fiction novel was not only unique but it also made the book more suspenseful and interesting. The characters were very well developed and the detail of each place and person was astonishing. This writer can easily be a role model to all inspiring authors. The morals of this book were crucial as well. It teaches people how through bad times you need someone to be there for you. In addition, it teaches you nothing good can come from fighting over a man. Again, this book was wonderful and i give it the highest rating possible.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lite Lit Laughter, November 3, 2002
This review is from: Sis Boom Bah (Paperback)
Deborah Peltz and her sister Sharon have always shared an intense rivalry. They continue to bicker and fight like 4 year olds, although both are in their 40s. They try to get along, but for some reason, they always fail, even when their mother, who is recuperating from a heart attack begs them to get along. Deborah has recently moved to Florida, where her mom and sister live, trading her job writing for a soap opera for a job taking care of an historic Florida beach home (nice job). Both sisters quickly become "involved" with their mom's cardiologist. The involvement doesn't last long because star cardiologist turns up murdered. The bickering continues, even to the police station. Deborah, our narrator, is determined to solve the case using the "skills" she acquired writing for the soaps. Sis Boom Bah is a funny tale, told in a breezy humorous style. If you are looking for an enjoyable, romantic comedy/mystery, stop here. It's fun and funny.

5.0 out of 5 stars You will laugh out loud!, September 14, 2002
This review is from: Sis Boom Bah (Paperback)
Jane Heller is my new favorite author! This book was just TOO funny.

The story takes place near Boca Raton, Fl where I have had the pleasure to visit. I kept picturing "Del Boca Vista's" from Seinfield for the atmosphere. Two sisters (one from NY) are reunited after several estranged years to take care of their sick mother. Needless to say, the two sisters have not had the best relationship and can't stand each other. IE - At first when they see each other, one sister compliments the other's dress as looking like a tablecloth.

Both sisters are in competition for a handsome and charming doctor, and when they both find him dead in his house - they are suspects in his murder. The sisters are bound and determined to clear their name and find the true killer.

Heller lives up to her style of writing which will have a little bit of something for all readers. Laughing, mystery..and just when you think you've figured out what's going on, the plot thickens...
