Hearing Sissel in concert is probably akin to what viewers felt when they heard Barbra Streisand the first time on the Ed Sullivan Show. It's a stunning, magnificent voice (used, incidentally, for vocal fills on the Titanic soundtrack). This video serves as an introduction to Sissel. Long a star in her native Norway and across Scandinavia, she's only a hit song away from taking the United States by storm. Each song is accompanied by a short interview and footage or her native country. The show was taped at the Oslo Spectrum in 2002 and Sissel is accompanied by a 54-piece orchestra, an all-female youth chorus, an eight-piece band, and some musical guests. Her song selection cuts across from standards like "Over The Rainbow" to Norwegian folk songs to pop-tinged songs from her recent CDs. Sissel herself fits the stereotype of the Viking woman, a statuesque, well-chiseled icy beauty who has a slight accent speaking English. In a pop world of no-talent warblers who need electronic enhancement and flashy production, Sissel is the genuine article. With any justice, you'll be hearing a lot more from her.

When I saw this concert on PBS, I was stunned. I was doing some surfing and came across this concert quite by accident. I sat very still with my mouth hanging open unable to believe what I was hearing. Her stage presence is incredible. She makes love to her music, the camera, and the audience. A fantastic talent. She has sang opera in Italy yet she can belt out a pop tune with ease. America is lucky to now get to know Sissel!

The review from Denmark really didn't do justice to this DVD. This DVD is wonderful collection of music from a live performance. My family(ages 25 to 75) loved every moment of it. It definately left us wanting more. Sissel's performances are treasures that should not be missed.

Simply amazing, I first heard her during a concert that was shown on PBS last year. I am totally in awe. Her voice is so pure and captivating. I now own 4 or 5 of her cd's. She is a good looking woman with an a voice to match.

I agree completely with the review by "a viewer." Sissel is so pure and genuine. Her voice is so easy to listen to. Her song selection on this DVD is wonderful as it includes a little of everything from country to light classical. She sings everything well. She sings mostly in English and is easily understood. Her voice is so vibrant, clean and musical. Everyone who has seen this DVD has been awestruck. She is that talented and lets hope she returns to the USA again soon. She also has a beautiful Christmas CD sung mostly in Norwegian.

Since first hearing Sissel just this past March, I have collected every CD I could find - or import. Unfortunately, I could only find 1 DVD and this is it.. Her rapport with the audience, and the "intro" she gives her songs on the DVD just enhance the overall experience.
The voice - and presence - of an angel

Sissel really has all good things: A beautiful voice capable of anything from popular to operatic, a lovely face and figure, and a sparkling stage presence. She is a pleasure for the eyes and the ears! It is too bad she spends most of her time in Europe, and it is usually only during PBS fund drives that we in the States get a chance to enjoy her artistry.

this dvd catches you by surprise, Sissel's beautiful voice and charm, her interaction with the public, the variety of songs and rithyms, etc. so much so that you do not want it to end and cannot wait for the next.

I had never heard of Sissel, but received the "Northern Lights" dvd for Christmas. I loved it so much I bought one to send to my niece in Alaska. I can only describe her voice as heavenly and pure. I will definitely be purchasing more of her music!

Sissel deserves greater fame in the U.S. Her voice and delivery are impeccable. I wish that I had the means to travel to Scandinavia and see her in person more often. Fortunately, I was able to attend her concert in Chicago in Winter of 2007. What a delight ! If you have not heard her beautiful voice and range, do yourself a favor and do so with haste.
