Highly recommend these Sistema containers!

The flexible/removable "o-ring" seal is a great feature and will ensure a positive seal when the clips are closed and snapped shut.

They work great and stack great in the cabinet.

I absolutely love these containers. However, I am taking a star off because they are not air-tight as advertised in the description and we have had several issues with liquids / sauces leaking. Otherwise, these containers would be perfect!! They stack / nest very well and are great for storing leftovers in the refrigerator or packing dry items for lunch. Keep in mind that the 16 pieces includes the lid, so you are getting 8 containers.

These things do NOT hold liquid, despite the misleading label that they are airtight. They are NOT. If something is airtight then neither air nor especially liquid (far larger molecules than air!) should be able to get through. Things can be watertight but not airtight, however if something is airtight it must by definition be watertight. So rally one could say these containers defy the laws of physics.

These leak, always, no exceptions. Pasta sauce, oil, soup, just a small sample of things that have leaked into my backpack and into my lunch box over the past year. I still use them because I paid so much for them and I like the product design. But mostly because I paid so much.

(I don't have this exact combination of sizes as I bought them at a local store, not Amazon.)

Pros: 1. Clear, easy to see contents from all angles. 2. Being square, they fit better on frig shelves

Cons: 1. They do not stack compactly when not in use, so storing them requires significantly more room than say Tupperware. 2. THE BIGGEST DRAWBACK is that, contrary to their advertising, they are anything but airtight. Don't slosh one that contains any liquid or you'll have a real mess to clean up!!

I only rate them at 2 stars because:
1. sealing is such an important function, and these don't
2. there are many other brands out there that will seal
3. they are a bit pricey compared to other brands
.......almost didn't give them that much.

UPDATE: I wrote to Sistema about the leaking problem.
1. They responded promptly and offered to send me a couple of their ROUND containers, saying that due to the "laws of physics" round containers would have a "better seal". (I declined their offer. A seal is a seal and one that leaks, however slowly, is still not really a seal.)
2. They also stated that they market their containers for DRY FOOD STORAGE ONLY and have never said that they were liquid proof. (It is true they have never used the terms leakproof or liquid proof).
3. In addition, they said that when using their containers, even their juice containers, they are assuming that the containers would be maintained in an upright position in a frig or a "chilly bin" (which I take to mean an ice chest or cooler).

I've used these Sistema products for a while now, and I enjoy the simplicity of two snap closures, the rigid plastic, and the clarity...wow! This selection has a lot of great containers for lunches...tiny containers for snacks, slightly larger for fruit or vegetables, and a perfect salad container. The bonus of course are two larger containers for salad materials, dry goods, whatever you'd like to store in them. Highly recommend these Sistema containers!

I purchased these mainly because they are BPA free. The snap fit is great and I am not sure if they leak or not because I don't really turn them upside down with anything liquid in them so it was a mute point for me. They work great and stack great in the cabinet.

I'm so glad I can be worry-free when my children and husband use this product to eat hot items or re-heat items from the frig without chemical release into their precious bodies!

I am very surprised that anyone who discovers that these containers aren't leakproof would give three or even four stars. For me, a container being spill (leak) proof is a crucial attribute. Even more so for the smaller containers that could be used as a lunch or fruit box. I purchased one of the small containers in this set locally before I'd splurge on a complete set. Needless to say, I experienced a spill on first use with the seal still strong and the clasps gripping tightly. I had cherries in the container and the little bit of juice they had came out. One can only imagine what repeated use would bring in terms of wasted contents and required cleanup. They may be made in New Zealand but they obviously didn't do their homework. Do not buy.

Only have had these containers for a week or so and all ready have used all of them. I love the different sizes and the way they close is great. I have no feeling in my fingers so with type of closures even I have no problem. There air tight. I will be ordering a set for my kids.
