Editorial Reviews

In this first of five seasons the Emmy-winning Sister, Sister appeared on the Disney Channel, young twins Tia and Tamera (played by the same-name Mowry actresses), unaware of each other's existence, meet for the first time in a very funny scene that changes the course of their lives. Separated at birth, each was raised by an adoptive parent: Tia with mother Lisa (Jackee Harry), Tamera with dad Ray (Tim Reid). The decision is made to forge an awkward, sort-of family with all four living in Ray's large house (he's a successful businessman, while Lisa is a threadbare fashion consultant). From the get-go, the show makes it clear the sassy Lisa and uptight Ray, very different people, are unlikely to fall in love, allowing for lots of sarcastic banter between the two and keeping the tone light in that department. Still, there are moments when the live-in arrangement has comic advantages, as in an episode where Lisa begs Ray to pretend they're married in order to placate her mother.

The focus largely remains, however, on Tia and Tamera, young teens getting used to a new life that includes an identical sibling. The ups and downs of their relationship are fodder for the 12 charming episodes in this two-disc set, most of them built around tensions and competition between the girls concerning boys, dating, truthfulness, and how to get what they want after being told they can't have it. In "Cheater, Cheater" and "The Pimple," Tia and Tamera swap places when faced with difficult situations and deal with the consequences. "First Dates" finds the twins swearing to a pact that neither will go to a school dance if one or another isn't asked--an agreement instantly challenged when Tamera hears from an interesting boy. --Tom Keogh

Product Description

Sister, Sister is a half-hour comedy series which chronicles the adventures of a reunited set of identical twins, Tia Landry and Tamera Campbell (played by real-life identical twins Tia and Tamera Mowry). The teens live with their adoptive parents, conservative businessman Ray Campbell (Tim Reid) and brassy, outspoken Lisa Landry (Jackee Harry) in the suburbs of Detroit. Together, this unconventional blended family is learning lessons in life, laughter and love.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Sitcom ever! Perfect for any family! January 25, 2009
I looked for 13 years, trying to find Sister Sister on DVD for my wife. I even paid a lot of money to a company that was a scam. Now that she has it, things couldn't be better. The warm and loving atmosphere of this sitcom, is perfect for any family. It is not just a "Black" program. It is a family program that breaks the color barrier! I recommend Sister Sister for every family out there. I pray that Amazon gets the remaining seasons.

Thank you for making my wife's dream come true!

THIS is one of the best family shows to ever come on television. I absolutely love it. You can watch it with your children and not have to worry about their being ANY inappropriate content. I was soooooooooooooo excited when I saw that they released this on DVD however I was very upset that they have not released the rest of the seasons. PLease hurry and release the rest of the show so i can finish my collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great
The interaction between the adults is just as big a part of this series as the interaction between the kids. Often, there are situations in both of those dynamics in an episode.
