I loved it! Kept me on my toes and wondering, what was next!
Ms. Girard never fails to keep me amused and interested in her plots. Her characters are interesting and their interaction with each other is always delightful. The horse in the Sister Season was a treat and kept me laughing. I always look forward to another Paula Tanner Girard book, there just isn't enough of them!

Too many characters, not enough romance

Too many characters, not enough romance, December 18, 1998

This review is from: The Sister Season (Zebra Regency Romance) (Paperback)
This book was a disappointment to me, since I know Ms. Girard is capable of better. The cast of characters is vast--8 sisters and an army of servants--and so none of them are fully developed, with the exception of the hero and, to a lesser extent, his secretary. The heroine is nothing more than a cardboard figure, and the author can't seem to decide if she is a mischievous prankster or the backbone of her large family of siblings, most of whom are distinguishable only by the color of their hair. Also, the romance was extremely slow to develop: the hero and heroine did not have a real conversation until more than halfway through the book. When they declared their love for each other, I couldn't help thinking, "Love her? You don't even know her!" Anyone wishing to try one of Ms. Girard's books would do better to read CHARADE OF HEARTS or A FATHER FOR CHRISTMAS.
