Everyone woman has a Sister Secret,
By Kayisha Thompson (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sister Secrets (Paperback)
This is the best book I have ever read. Anyone that is interested in pledging a sorority or even a fraternity should read Breggie James "Sister Secrets." I was captured by the books essence. A particular character "Jennifer Stevens" captured my heart. Jennifer reminded me so much of myself. Jennifer was so shy, quiet, innocent, and pretty. After joining the sorority of her interest she quickly changed. She became a leader, outspoken, and most of all she blossomed into a women. Something I hope I will get out of joining the sorority of my interest. Like I said before, if your interested in joining a sorority. This is the book for you. Why? Because, it will truly intrigue you.

Fascinating story with fascinating characters,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sister Secrets (Paperback)
Once I figured out the characters and who belonged to what sorority or fratnerity, I found the book intriguing and hated for the story to end. This book reminded me of my pledge days in college; it gave great detail to Black Greek life on a college campus. The sorority life had a positive influence on its member, especially in developing their character and grooming them to become productive and successful women. Amazing how the author had the character's lives to become entwined! I am looking forward to reading the sequel.

Very Hard To Follow,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sister Secrets (Paperback)
I think that this book was very hard to follow though it provided a lot of insight to the greek life on college campuses i think that it sometimes focused on the little things that did not matter or things that really did not tie into the story too well. Also the one major thing that drove me absolutely crazy about this book was how it went from one sorority to the next basically telling the same story over again which became really frustrating. Like the previous critic said I was just happy that I got through the whole book.

GREAT JOB!!!!,
By La-Kia White (LRW8@Hotmail.com) (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sister Secrets (Paperback)
Sister Secrets is one of the few novels that I wish Lifetime would turn into a TV movie! My best friend and I actually talked about the characters as if the were really someone we knew. As a potential pledgee, it gave me a lot of insight to the Greek world. Nevertheless, its downfall was the numerous characters and storylines. I am very glad that I got a chance to actually meet the author and have my book personally autographed. Overall, I find Sister Secrets to be a book to read over and over again.

A page turner and note taker in one,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sister Secrets (Paperback)
This book was suggested to me by a friend who is in a different sorority than I, and I must say that I'm glad she did. Once I picked it up, it was difficult to put down. I could relate to the story very well by being in a sorority myself and felt as if I knew some of the characters personally. I rated this book 4 stars out of 5 only because of the numerous characters and story lines. I actually had to take notes, and flip back through chapters to refresh my memory. Other than that, the book was excellent and is a must read, but don't forget your pen and paper!

Left Me Breathless and Hungry for More,
By Carla R. Sarratt "www.CarlaSarratt.com" (Charlotte, NC United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Sister Secrets (Paperback)
I enjoyed the book as well. I received it as a Christmas present from a soror. This book represents the trials and tribulations of sisterhood and mother/daughterhood. I love how the characters were interwoven. This is a must for women, sisters, best friends, etc. I agree with all of those who said that there were too many characters and sometimes you do need to remember who was who. Overall this was ann exceptional book, now that I know there is a sequel will dive into it right away.

Too many things unexplained,
By Brownie (Brooklyn, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sister Secrets (Paperback)
I agree with the other reviewers that it would have been better to use real greek letter organizations. As a member of a Sorority, I too found it difficult to follow the different greek-letter organizations. I also didn't care for the jumping back and forth between the Betas and the Kappas activities. Subtitles should have been given. The author also could have done a better job of explaining the controversies that occurred. A lot of assumptions and inferences had to be made regarding the characters.

More people, more secrets...,
This review is from: Sister Secrets (Paperback)
This book was interesting in its own way. As previous people have said, there was just too many people featured here. Because of that, the flow was not smooth. I found myself turning back constantly to keep the characters straight. When the secrets started to unfold, you really needed a scorecard. The sorority involvement was interesting. It brought back many memories for me during college. I would recommend this book with a warning to get out a pen and pad to keep the characters in check. The finale of all this was interesting.

It had it all,
By A Customer

I just put the book down, literally, and I have to admit it was an excellent book. It began slightly confusing with many crossed family trees but for the most part it was excellent. You never knew what was to occur next. I was hooked from the beginning and I finished the book in 2 days. I read it every chance I could. I highly recommend this novel to not only those who want to obtain a further knowledge of sorority life but college life and how friendships really do last a lifetime.

Don't judge a book by its cover!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sister Secrets (Paperback)
That is how I ended up with this 400+ page saga. I was never a soror and I wanted some insight into that world. The first chapter was excellent but the next 300+ pages was filled with too much detail on the small issues and not enough on the major ones. I found it hard to keep track of who is who's sister, cousin, mother, father etc. The frequent typo's through out the text was another turn off! The story got real exciting towards the end and then it just fizzled out again. I was very disappointed.
