5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting conclusion to the Dragons of Deltora series., October 31, 2004
This review is from: The Sister Of The South (Dragons Of Deltora #4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Lief, Jasmine, and Barda have defeated three of the Four Sisters, and now only the Sister of the South remains. But to their horror, they learn that it is hidden in the city of Del. They return to the palace to find that there is a terrible plague in Del. Lief's own mother is very ill, and hundreds have died. Lief is sure the Shadow Lord is behind the plague somehow. As king, Lief feels responsible for everything bad that happens, and he has a terrible sense of foreboding about fighting the last Sister. Will he be brave enough when the time comes for the final battle?

Readers who have read all the previous Deltora adventures won't want to miss this conclusion to the third Deltora series, Dragons of Deltora. It's an action-packed, exciting finale that Emily Rodda's fans are sure to enjoy. It appears from the ending that this will be the final Deltora series, but if that is the case, it does wrap up everything nicely, and fans shouldn't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Woo hoo!, February 19, 2005

Bookworm "Alex" (Hong Kong, China) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Sister Of The South (Dragons Of Deltora #4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Excellent book! It is as action packed, exciting and full of twists as the others. You just couldn't guess who the guardian was! And when they killed the Sister of the South, it seemed a happy, peaceful ending, but that's just not all. I highly recommend it to everybody. It's just that, through the last 14 books of Deltora, and you're so gripped by it you can hardly put the book down. Sure, it's among the best books I've ever read, and it has a happy ending, but I was still a bit sad at the end that their adventures ended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Charming Conclusion!, July 15, 2005
This review is from: The Sister Of The South (Dragons Of Deltora #4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Lief, Jasmine and Barda are now hot on the trail of the last sister! They are horrified when they learn, that the final sister lies in the Palace of Del.When they arrive at the palace, they learn that an evil plague has killed many citizens of Del, and many of Lief's close friends, are hanging on their last thread of life.

Lief, is scared of the last sister, and doesn't want to fight it.He would rather die than fight the final sister, it is then, when he tries to take of the beautiful belt of Deltora, but someone stops him. That someone is Manus!

I loved the last and exciting Deltoran adventure that will hopefully be the final. The sister was very interesting, and the guardian was a little bit too obvious. But still, it is a wonderful book, and the ending, magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great climax, May 20, 2008
This review is from: The Sister Of The South (Dragons Of Deltora #4) (Mass Market Paperback)
"And for the first time he saw fully the dark power which had enthralled his enemies, those others who had embraced the cause of the Shadow Lord. He almost understood them ... Rolf the Capricon. Kirsten of Shadowgate. Laughing Jack. And the unknown enemy here, in Del." -- THE SISTER OF THE SOUTH

This book was a great climax. You will never guess who is the guardian or what will happen in the final confrontation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Imagination galore and even a bit of well-worked drama, October 6, 2007
This review is from: The Sister Of The South (Dragons Of Deltora #4) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this book with something akin to sadness when I realized that Emily Rodda was finally bringing this brilliant series to a close. But that does not change the fact that she puts so much intelligence into this story and makes sure to finish it all off with a bang, both emtionally and with the action.

The story takes place back in Del. After all that chaos of running around the continent, it turns out that the last sister cursing the land is in Del. Oh, how we all love irony! At least I do.

But it's more than the matter of killing an evil creature. A plague has taken the city and no one can figure out the cause. Fingers are being pointed everywhere and conspiracy is on everyone's lips. While King Lief fights to save his city, it may be the people themselves who will finally destroy it.

The drama is at its highest and Rodda is able to handle it as well as her usual fantasy. Everything is wrapped up brilliantly and tastefully, as to please the fans, and dare I say that Emily Rodda takes her characters a step further than normal.

This may go under the guise of kiddie fantasy, and it certainly is child-friendly, but that does not change that fact that it is a quick, complex, and all-around brilliant story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best series ever!, October 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Sister Of The South (Dragons Of Deltora #4) (Mass Market Paperback)
My father and I have read every book from the Deltora collection, and I can say , up until now, this were the best books we've read, and the ending is just as good. It answers every question we had left since the beginning of the series, and there was no dissapointment in who the guardian was, or other things(I can't say it because of the spoilers), except for one: Though with a great ending, The Deltora series have finished. For what I know, there will be no other book. But for people who like action/fantasy books, you have here your best collection you could ever read!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent wrap-up, August 26, 2007

This review is from: The Sister Of The South (Dragons Of Deltora #4) (Mass Market Paperback)
My son and I have read all the Deltora books, from "Deltora Quest" to "The Shadowlands" and now finishing with the "Dragons of Deltora" series. Sister of the South was a very good ending to the adventures of Lief, Jasmine and Barda. Emily Rodda is a wonderful author writing many twists and turns, riddles, etc. in her books. Very entertaining for kids and adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars The search is over, February 16, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Sister Of The South (Dragons Of Deltora #4) (Mass Market Paperback)
The Sister of the South is about Lief, Barda, and Jasmine. They are searching for the 4th

and final sister and destroy her. In destroying the sister, they will rid Deltora of hunger.

Little do they know they're walking into a trap.... of death! Plus, the ultimate setup!

Which leaves one question, will they survive!?!

It is a very adventurous, fantasy book about magic and ridding the land of evil. The

books in the series was so good, I read them all twice!! The book should be read by

people who enjoy reading about fantasy and who doesn't gross out easily. This book

leaves you asking a few questions but doesn't answer them. My favorite characteristic of

Lief is that he wants to get rid of evil no matter what the cost.
