Mary Ann starts out like most girls I know (modest and discreet). I was surprised how she had nerve be so sexually open and honest. Mary Ann became uninhibited and used her newfound sexuality to her advantage. I was more than satisfied with the book. After I read it I immediately bought copies for a few close friends and family in other states and lent mine to a co-worker at work who's already a fan. This is the first book I read by Zane and regret that I haven't started sooner. I am now rapidly going through the rest of her books. "Addicted" was great I am now reading "Heat Seekers" and the Sex Chronicles and its sequel is en route to me now. I think the APF sorority should have a series of books and I want to thank you Zane for exceeding my expectations with the story. (Even the cover under the dust jacket - perfect marketing.) APF was not a disappointment and kept me wanting to read more and is now the first book I recommend to all that haven't read it. I will reread it again when I get through the rest of Zane's collection. Those who I've recommended the book to also loved it and we are now forming a book club. Thanks again Zane!

Zane is at it again. Taking a short story from her book The Sex Chronicles, she records the indoctrination of Soror Ride . . ..

Mary Ann is an innocent young lady from North Dakota who got a scholarship to attend to law school in Washington D.C. Patricia is the first person Mary Ann meets and she decides that she will be the one to guide Mary Ann on the ends and outs of law school and D.C. Patricia has a sense about Mary Ann that she may be interested in her local investment club and invites her to a meeting. But this is no ordinary investment club and the members are not too particular about strangers coming in. It is at this meeting Mary Ann is introduced to Olive. Though their first meeting was not a good one, Olive eventually leads Mary Ann to a form of liberation-sexual liberation. This is Mary Ann's introduction to The Sisters of APF.

This book was interesting for much more than the raw in your face sex, which is a part of it, but because it clearly tracks a woman's sexual emancipation. Everyone who has been to college knows of that one girl who gets away from their parents and gets buck wild. Mary Ann is that girl. Whether you agree with Mary Ann's decisions or not it was fascinating watching her step out of her comfort zone and increasingly takes risks. Zane even included a scene of discovery in a place called "Heaven" that was reminiscent of a scene in the movie Trois 2.

I grew somewhat wary of the slang usage especially with professional women and there was not a great point of climax for me in the novel. However, this book kept my interested and if you are a fan of Zane's you will get caught up. If there are no real chapters of APF, I suspect there soon will be.

My girl, Zane is Back! She did the dern thang!!!

This was a HOT HOT read!!! A fun read!!!

Loved it and bought another copy for that HOT girlfriend of mine that I can talk about everything with, you know what I mean?

All I can say is it puts you in the mood! It makes you laugh! It's a good "fun" book.

Just fun! Not rocket science, just a sit back, get heated kinda read!!

I became a fan of Zane after reading The Sex Chronicles. I picked up this book because I did enjoy the short stories about APF. I was disappointed, however, because Zane did not develop any of the characters or the plot enough to carry an entire book about APF.

Even a slow, careful reader could read this book in under three hours. The main character, Mary Ann, is so boring, stereotypical, and one-dimensional. Sure, she's a closet freak, but we already knew that from the previous short stories where she introduced herself as Soror Ride Dick. I can't express how unbelieveably one-dimensional the plot and characters are.

Another major problem is that although Zane is known for her steamy, erotic sex scenes, there are virtually no sex scenes for the first half of the book. That would be acceptable if the plot was moving along, but it's not. When you do get to a sex scene it seems awkward and lacks detail. I don't know what Zane was thinking.

There is one tiny, pathetic plot twist at the end of the story, but it almost seems out of place in this boring book.

I gave this book 3 stars because I still like Zane and I know has done and will do better books. In all honesty, it deserves 2 stars. Don't let this be the first book you read by Zane, because you'll probably never read her again. Borrow this one from a friend, read it in the bookstore (I know it sounds ghetto, but this is a short book), or just ask someone to tell you what it's about.

Armed with upperclassmen knowledge and seniority, Patricia leads Mary Ann into the secret world of The Sisters of APF, their mission, and the tools necessary to lead her away from her timid, good girl demeanor into an experience that is more fitting...one in which she will not settle for just anything when it comes to sex.

As in most of her books, Zane has taken a bold look into the lives of women unafraid to express their sexual wants and desires. And, while I don't condone all of the activities of this book, I do applaud Zane on yet another story with an underlying theme of being true to yourself and not being a victim in any arena of your life; especially sexually. No, the sorority does not exist outside of the pages of THE SISTERS OF APF: THE INDOCTRINATION OF SOROR RIDE DICK, but it does help one to see that "if they could work hard every day, bring home the bacon, and raise a family then they deserve a little hellified sex in their lives." This is definitely a ride worth taking.

ZANE TRULY HAVE OUTDID HERSELF THIS TIME!

Y'ALL JUST PLEASE GET THIS BOOK AND PLEASE LOCK THE BEDROOM DOOR AND TAKE THE PHONE OFF THE HOOK BECAUSE THIS BOOK SHOULD HAVE BEEN TITLED "THE XXX SORORITY: TOO HOT FOR SHOWTIME'S RED SHOES DIARY!"

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL TO THIS BOOK AND HER UPCOMING TWO BOOKS! GURL WHERE DO YOU FIND THE TIME TO WRITE THESE STEAMY HOT AND FRESH OFF THE PRESS - NOVELS?!?!? ZANE PLEASE CONTINUE TO BRING THE HEAT AND CONTINUE TO DO THE DANG THANG!

I completed this book in the same day I purchased it...I have read most of Zane's work (Addicted, Sex Chronicles), but this would be my favorite...Having been introduced to the Sorority in Sex Chronicles, I was very intrigued about the story behind it...And a very interesting story it turned out to be...I laughed from the beginning to the end, often at the unimaginable activities that these women participated in...Some sections seemed unrealistic, however with a Sorority that is unrealistic, I guess it all fit...2 things I would say, be openminded about what you are reading because these women let out the inner freekdom, in the most craziest (and sexist i might mention)escapades (some ideas for the most daring)ever heard of...and the last thing, DON'T READ just anywhere, it may be a little embarrasing explaining what the book is about to those who may ask (a bestfriend's father for example)...APF 'til I die!!!

Maybe it was just me, but I thought this book sucked big time. Trust me, I like hot sex scenes just as much as the next person, howbeit, this was too much sex (even for me) to the point that it was just overkill. I couldn't even get through it. Maybe if you could cut through all the Bullsh**, you can find whats missing...A STORY!

As a people, why Black folk continue to praise the works of those with an at best high school writing capacity is beyond me. Zane, Omar Tyree, Eric Jerome Dickey and others write stories of fiction that help to delude our collective concious (SP?). Young sisters have never read Dubois, or Douglass, or Morrisson outside of school yet I bet they've skimmed the Sex Chronicles... It depresses me to an extent. Similar to many rap videos the aforementioned authors are the "bling-bling" of Black literature and should be held accountable for the dreams they sell our people. When Zane first broke (quick aside, I work at a bookstore) I was on the Sex Chronicles waaaaaay b4 the mass public. When the cover was cartoony and oh so cheap looking I gave it a chance, enjoyed it (minutely) as something new and looked forward to the next pages written by the scribe....However after reading all four of her books (it only took a rainy Saturday) I fully understood that ALL of her works are the same and the only changes to be made are with bed partners.
