Editorial Reviews

Review

"Readers looking for a fresh new female private eye, one who exhibits a great sense of humor and a knack for taking care of herself on the New York City streets she knows well, can look to Sister's Keeper." --Minneapolis Star Tribune

"Randye Lordon's Sister's Keeper is a taut, intricate thriller with edge-of-seat plotting and beautifully-drawn characters--not the least of the which is midtown Manhattan. P.I. Sydney Sloane is a smart and agressive, her own womn in a man's tough, edgy world where only the strong survive." --Joe Gores, author of Contract Null and Void

"It's great to have Sydney Sloane P.I., with her gritty New York pizazz and humo, back to her own case!" --Annette Meyers, author of These Bones Were Made for Dancin'

"In genre full of cutesy detectives plots, it's a pleasure to meet Sydney Sloane, a woman who uses her keen intelligence and the evidence at hand to solve her perfectly plausible cases."
--Tom Savage author of Valentine

"Sydney Sloane will win your heart. She's tough and sensitive, serious and flip. I'm betting she'll always be the favorite tomboy throughout the genre." --Grant Michaels, author of Mask for a Diva

5.0 out of 5 stars Sister's Keeper is a Keeper!, May 11, 2001

Sydney Sloane is a private investigator in New York City. But the night she and her sister, Nora, have been invited to dinner with Nora's best friend, Zoe, to celebrate Zoe's freedom, Zoe is killed. Nora hires Sydney to find out who killed her since the police are writing the death off as an accident. Sydney begins uncovering one clue after another that Zoe is not who, or what, she appeared to be on the surface. As she proceeds with the investigation, she meets Zoe's married lover, a sociopathic thug sent to scare her off the case, Zoe's friends, and Zoe's enemies. And then people begin dying. The author keeps all the subplots well balanced without subtracting from the main story. As each clue is uncovered, the reader is right there with Sydney. The denouement is a surprise and the culprit introduced early in the book. This is a well-written procedural that even a cozy reader would love. This author and this character deserve a very wide readership.

I've worn a floor-length dress exactly three times in my life; once to my high school prom (a black granny dress with combat boots-it was a political statement); once to my sister Nora's wedding (a tangerine and white Empire cut with puffy sleeves, which made me look like a walking Creamsicle); and once on the night Zoe Freeman died. Read the first page
