The web is about people and this book covers those issues, October 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Web Site Management Excellence (Hardcover)
I bought this book knowing it was not technical and found it excellent when I needed to convey my ideas to clients in a no nonsense, non technical manner. As developers we can get caught up in the buzzwords, this book though 2 years old has aged well and has many relevant issues for today and beyond!

Well-written for first-timer, December 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Web Site Management Excellence (Hardcover)
Though the book is 1996, it's not old for beginners who got to manage the web at the start. I found the book in a computer store and did not hesitate to buy it. Flipping through the way the book was designed for each topic, you may find that you are having a friend at hand to coach you when you have troubles managing the hardware and peopleware. For those who want to read technology stuff, this book is not for that purpose, surely. I wish the author has more work as she is a very good writer and teacher for new hands.

For managers, not the developers - and very practical, September 3, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Web Site Management Excellence (Hardcover)
Like the other reviewer, I picked up the book hoping for WebMaster tips, but found that it is really not geared toward the technical aspects, but the larger organizational issues. This book is aimed at the business people who are making decisions about whether or not to have a Web Site, who to give the development work to, and how to avoid getting caught up in the hype associated with the "net". Although the book is 2 years old, the author was smart enough not to mention specific products or technologies in great detail. Instead of telling you which products to use, she describes how to sort through the facts (and the hype) for yourself. This book is about sound IT management - it won't be out of date next week. Oh... and it's also written with wit and style that makes it an enjoyable read.

Fairly superficial primer to web site design, July 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Web Site Management Excellence (Hardcover)
As a professional web developer, I hoped to pick up some tips in this book on the management of sophisticated web sites. I was disappointed. For my purposes, the book was dated (written over two years ago) and superficial. Although readable and well organized, a more accurate title for the book might be "a 1996 guide to building web sites".
