You may never go back to the old way,

I originally purchased just the "Sittin' Chicken" steamer, but after using it the first time I immediately ordered the chicken and turkey combo so I would never be without this option for roasting poultry. If you're going to feed more than two or three hungry people, you will need to roast more than one chicken anyway, so this gives me two chicken and one turkey steamer. The popular method has always been to use a can of beer for this type of cooking, but I like using fruit juices. Apple juice is my favorite. The meat comes out with a moist and sweet flavor, unattainable by other methods. For Easter this year I did a turkey on the grill (we have a wood pellet grill) with pineapple juice and beer in the Sittin' Turkey, and quickly discovered that I will need to make more turkey next year for this crowd. They loved it.
In addition, the ceramic steamers are easy to clean. I rub a little vegetable oil on the outside before cooking to keep crusty bits from sticking, and simply throw them in the dishwasher when I'm done. I don't think I will ever go back to the old way of roasting poultry.

Nice, but small and made in China,

These are a good idea and work well if the bird is small enough. I like the fact that the ceramic stand transfers heat into the center of the bird, helping it cook more evenly and also allows all of the skin to brown.
I used the turkey stand to cook a roaster chicken (7 lbs). Had the chicken been much larger, even the turkey stand would have been too small. I'm not sure what to use the chicken stand for. Maybe a malnourished fryer would fit, or a beefy cornish hen. Certainly nothing that I'd consider to be a respectable turkey could be cooked with this. I'm somewhat concerned that they are a glazed pottery product made in China. Odds are the glaze contains lead. Also, I'm not sure why the bottom is unglazed since it sits in the bottom of the pan with the juices, but not sure it matters. This is a pet peeve of mine, may not matter to you: They came with hard-to-remove stickers on the unglazed bottom. I had to waste time scraping with a razor blade and needed goo-off to get all the sticky residue off. Additionally, they both had giant instruction stickers on the main body that were an exact duplicate of the instructions on both the box and the printed instructions included inside. One I was able to get off cleanly, the other I had to resort to scraping and goo-off. Very annoying. In summary: good idea, work well, a larger size and made in America (or at least not China) would be nice.

Have only used the smaller chicken base. Chicken came out great. Easy to fill cooker with whatever savory concoction one likes. Imparts nice flavor and moistness to the birds. Easy to clean. Should not have to pay for two Turkey cookers to get two Chicken cookers, though.

Have used this or just a can or a can holder for years, the only trick is to get the liquid you choose hot first then put your chicken on and cook. If you don't it takes too long for the liquid to steam and your chicken is done with no bennifit. I have never tried a turkey, I preferr mine deep fried.

This will burst your bubble but READ ME ANYWAY!,

OK, seriously, grilling & cans are beer are like "love & marriage" so IN NO WAY AM I SLAMMING THE Beer-Can Chicken recipes that we've all perfected in our own special way, but I'm going to share some scientific secrets with you that will BLOW YOUR MIND! Read here & don't worry it's nothing bad - this is a BBQ website for us Kamado & BBQ geeks.
[...] OK, apparently I am not allowed to add a website, BUT if you google "beer can chicken myth", the Naked Whiz <dot> com will pop up - this is a BBQ forum for ceramic cookers & all things BBQ. The chest cavity in chickens is lined with a membrane. The purpose of the membrane is to essentially provide a smooth and lubricated surface for the internal organs to rub against as they move. The membrane can pass moisture through osmosis, but not directly. So, it's doubtful that any significant moisture enters the chicken by filling the can with a liquid. (For those of you going "Aha! Osmosis! That's what happens with brining and brining puts flavor into the meat!", remember that when you brine, the liquid and the spices and herbs are in direct contact with the meat and thus dissolved compounds can indeed be transported into the meat. However, with a beer butt chicken, the only thing that comes into contact with this serous membrane is a bit of steam. Maybe.) Basically, you want your liquid ot get over 200*F to create "steam" (which many believe is what makes the chicken moist, right?). So, with a bird sitting over the "beer can", how long will it take for your beer or liquid to start steaming? Answer is almost an hour.... How long will you cook your chicken for on a grill? Answer is the same (depending on size, temp of your grill, etc, but approx the same). Did you read the google article? Are you a little disappointed? Ya, OK, so now let me rave about this product. Get rid of anything aluminum - it's really not healthy to bring that stuff to a high temp with food you're going to eat resting on it. This product wins over on material alone. Cooking birds vertically (on a "can") will always come out cooked more evenly, more juicy & most importantly, gives you more space on your cooker. Oh, this is super easy to clean too. I love it, I'm glad I got it & I will use it until it's no longer usable! Happy grilling! ;)

I use these on my big green egg. The chicken is great. Best of all, they are wide enough at the bottom that they do not tip over.

I own three Sittin' Chicken and one Sittin' Turkey. I first heard about these when I purchased my Big Green Egg and bought one. I of course bought more after using it! Extremely easy to use and works as advertised. I'd advise looking for various recipes to pour into your Sittin' Chicken/Turkey for a wealth of different options in flavors etc. HIGHLY recommend!
