5.0 out of 5 stars Still one of my all time favorite rap albums after so many years..., August 12, 2010

Face Phoenix (Buffalo. NY USA) - See all my reviews
Sittin' on Chrome is one of those albums that only a select few remember and for those who do they all reminisce about it the same way - with a devilish smile. The lead single from the album "Born to Roll" was actually a remix of a song from the previous album "Slaughterhouse" called "Jeep A** Ni**uh". For obvious reasons the title was changed as well as the hook and beat. It wasn't exactly what Ase One [Masta Ace] wanted to produce but it's undeniable success influenced him to craft this album to the sensibilities of the audience that identified with his hit song. Now contrary to popular belief the album's sound did mislead many fans into believing "The Inc."[Ase One, LeShea, Lord Digga & Paula Perry] were a group originating from the West Coast when in fact the group was from NY which made this album's laid back, soul sampling vibe quite unique amongst the mostly homogenized, more popular NY sound of crime & grime. "Born to Roll" to roll was what drew me in but it's the other songs that just elevate the project. From the built for cruising around on summer nights classic title track "Sittin' on Chrome" to the 2mph anthem "I.N.C. Ride" this album just became a must for when I was going out on the weekends. I just love this album. It's one of those best kept secrets amongst fans and music lovers of my generation. It's nothing monumental to most but it's still fondly remembered in many circles such as Custom Car Tuners as well as Underground Crate Diggers. I think I need to take a ride to this today now that I think about it.
