Disappointing,
This review is from: Siu 101: Special Investigation Units : Guidelines, Formats, Procedures, Forms, and Philosophy for Investigators and Adjusters (Hardcover)
A superficial look at investigating fraud. This book helps out only the most inexperienced investigator and uses light-hearted phrases to gloss over issues without providing much information. It took me about an hour and a half to read the entire book. I would be happy purchasing this book for about $10. I bought the book based on the other review, it makes me think that one of the authors may have written it. I was very disappointed.

Unique and unquestionably comprehensive basic principles,

This review is from: Siu 101: Special Investigation Units : Guidelines, Formats, Procedures, Forms, and Philosophy for Investigators and Adjusters (Hardcover)
The only book of its kind in the industry with A-Z basic principles spelled out for novice and experienced investigators who want to learn or refresh their knowledge of the insurance investigators skills. This should be a mandatory item in the insurance adjusters or SIU investigators library. As Manager of Investigators worldwide in excess of 15 years I stand behind this book and recommend it to investigators of all skill levels

Very Basic,

I purchased this book in the hope it might be a good resource. I was wrong. The book is so basic as to be nearly useless to anyone with prior investigation training. There are some useful check lists that would help a novice investigator or claim representative.
Someone should write a book or manual on insurance fraud investigation techniques. This book is a missed opportunity.

The book is a gloss over of the real world of investigations. The authors have experience...but the book is written from a supervisors point of view. Not from actual experience. Save your money.

This review is from: Siu 101: Special Investigation Units : Guidelines, Formats, Procedures, Forms, and Philosophy for Investigators and Adjusters (Hardcover)
This book is twelve years old. Portions are corny (which I think was intended), but the investigative checklists are right on the money. I think the authors were trying to introduce new SIU investigators to the industry, as, at the time, most were police officers just coming into insurance investigations--thus the title, SIU 101.
Buy the book as cheaply as possible, but use the checklists and the release forms as they are still relevant, accurate, and very helpful years after being developed. |
