More About the Author

Story telling, especially Texas stories, was part of Myra Hargrave McIlvain's heritage from the time of her birth in the family's hundred-year-old log house in Northeast Texas, to the family move to Houston where Myra grew up. Story telling began as a career with the publication of a family humor column that spanned the years she was raising her children.
A move to Austin offered the opportunity to write the stories that travelers see posted on Historical Markers along Texas highways. Her articles about Texas appeared in US, Mexican, and Canadian newspapers and in magazines such as TEXAS HIGHWAYS.
Four of her guidebooks direct travelers to Texas' most famous and infamous historic sites, and an anthology published by the Texas Historical Commission shares more of the Texas historical marker stories.
Myra and her husband led groups for nine years on historic tours that began as day trips and grew into travel all over the world. She continues to offer seminars and lectures on Texas heritage.
Her short stories have appeared in ESSENCE, ST. ANTHONY'S Messenger, HOME LIFE, and HERS.
LEGACY is her first novel.

This guide was interesting and informative. I have lived in Central Texas for thirty years, and I visited most of the locations described.
This guide told me a lot of interesting facts I did not know about these familiar places. I recommend it to any person, new arrival or old timer, interested in knowing more about this area. And I thank Amazon for making it available
