this was a great book,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Six Hogs On A Scooter (Hardcover)
I just finished reading Six Hogs on a Scooter. It is about six pigs in a family that are trying to get to the Opera House. They had trouble with about six different ways of transportation to get there. Almost all of them failed. The main characters are Penelope,Horace, Grandpa Hog, Mother Hog, Grandma Hog, and Father Hog.The pictures describe a lot of how all the ways of transportation failed. This book is funny in some parts seeing how six hogs doing weird things to get to the Opera House. I think 2nd or 3rd graders would like this book.

A STELLAR review,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Six Hogs On A Scooter (Hardcover)
We think this book is good for ages 2-10. We think kids would like this book because it is about funny pigs trying to get to the opera. They tried six different ways and succeeded once. Funny things happen at the end. We think your children will LOVE this book.

The illustrations alone are a joy, but the story is quite interesting about a family of hogs who want to get to the opera. A wonderful family oriented book with quirky means of travel. Great for pre-schoolers.

Scott Nash is one talented illustrator. As with all of his books, the wit within his style and the attention to detail bring the words alive.

For Opera Fans Everywhere...,
By Cartuni (NW) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Six Hogs On A Scooter (Hardcover)
This is the only children's book I have found that introduces them to the wonders of the opera at a level that they can comprehend. In this world of insane pop stars with loose morals, it is so refreshing to see farm animals on a quest for a higher form of entertainment.
It is so appropriate that the author chose the hog as the main character, an animal who is both extremely intelligent and well-padded, like most successful opera singers. Seeing these fat porkers with their oversized grins and popped-out eyes prepares the young child for what they will see at a real opera. My husband Earl of course totally disagrees with me. HE thinks this is a book meant to prepare boys for getting their first Harley motorcycle, and the fact that they MISS the opera is "the whole dang point of the book, Martha. None of those hogs wanted to make it on time". He thinks the plot is how to AVOID the opera, but what does he know? He can't even find his underpants in the morning. |
