This is a life saver for easy to put together meals.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Six Ingredients or Less (Paperback)
This is my favorite and most frequently referenced cookbook. The recipes I've tried in this book are quick and easy to use and I usually have most all of ingredients on hand! Or I can often find a recipe that fits the ingredients I do have on hand. The recipes range from basic to some great but simple serve for company meals. Even my husband will cook using this cookbook!

My wife has cooked many delicious easy meals from this book. In fact she has basically trashed it over the last 5 years and so I'm buying her a new copy!

A MUST FOR ALL KITCHENS,
By A Customer
This review is from: Six Ingredients or Less (Paperback)
I first bought this book in 1991 after having dinner at a friend's house where every dish came from this cookbook. Since then, I have tried almost every recipe and have bought a total of 6 copies for birthday gifts, bridal shower presents, and going away to college gifts. Most of my favorite dishes come from this cookbook and friends are always asking for my special dinner rolls(jiffy cake mix is the secret ingredient). I own several cookbooks but when I'm in a bind and I need to make something fast and don't want to go to the store for more ingredients--I always pull out Six Ingredients or Less. You can tell. It has more splatters on its pages than all my other cookbooks combined!

Easy cooking for singles,

I'm sure many families have utilized the recipes in this book; however, it is also a great little cooking book for singles who are often on the run. It's a book to have on hand in your kitchen.

Bachelor's must have cook book,
By Rob (Vancouver BC Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Six Ingredients or Less (Paperback)
I've had this cookbook for 22 years. I met my future wife after impressing her brother and sister inlaw with my cooking abilities. The recipes do rely heavily on processed food stuffs - canned soup, muffin mixes etc -but that's how the ingredient count is kept down. Some of the recipies, such as company chicken and rice, have become family staples. We've been asked for the recipe many, many times. The recipies do allow customization by the cook based on personal preference - it's easy to remove an ingredient you aren't too fond of and replace it with something else. I'm sure none of these recipies will ever grace a plate at Buckingham Palace, but we've had great success with them.

Best Cookbook ever used!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Six Ingredients or Less (Paperback)
Actually, I picked this book up in a used book store, as I collect cook books. I must have, at least, a hundred cook books. This rare find is my favorite! If you're looking for a cook book that has fast and easy recipes and that will appeal to everyone, especially kids, this is the one you want. In my copy, the author dedicated the book to her sons Brian and Mike who never knew what they were going to have for dinner and whose comments raned from "Yuk" to "Put it in the cookbook, Mom". I feel that is what she did, put only her proven best tasting recipes in it. Believe me, the recipes are definite crowd leasers...you couldn't pry my well worn copy from me. All I can do is take time here to thank the gal who put it together. Thanks, Thanks, Thanks!

Easy and good,
By A Customer
This review is from: Six Ingredients or Less (Paperback)
This has become a well-used addition to the kitchen. It is great when you come home from work too tired to spend all evening cooking but still want something tasty. The book is easy to read, with large type and clear instructions. There is a banner at the top of the pages telling you what the recipes on that page are for (Salads, Beef, Poultry, etc.), which makes it even easier to navigate. I have cooked a number of these dishes, particularly the ones in the meat and poultry section, and they are consistently good. With more than 500 recipes, there is a wide range from the simple fare like meatloaf and tuna casserole, to company dishes like chicken cordon bleu and baklava (yep, you read that right - baklava with only six ingredients!). If you have a penchant for making your own sauces, marinades and salad dressings, this section of the book is a treat, boasting 18 full pages. I bought another copy as a gift for my aunt, and will definitely order it again for a great housewarming or shower gift. I get appreciative comments from my husband without much effort. Thank you to Ms Johnson and her boys for compiling this little gem.

I can always find the ingredients in my kitchen to make at least one meal from this book, even if I am running low on food around the house. I consider this a must have recipe book.

This is a GREAT cookbook for those who are busy/lazy. It's nice not to have to buy all kinds of ingredients, and it's great to have easy recipes. I use this cookbook weekly.

Don't be fooled by the cover,
By A Customer
This review is from: Six Ingredients or Less (Paperback)
The recipes in this book are much less wholesome than the cover photo would have you think. Many of the recipes are very heavily dependent on prepared and processed foods, dairy, eggs, and red meat. They are full of fat, sugar, and salt. The banana bread, for example, contains 3 cups of sugar and butter, and four eggs, but only 2 cups of bananas! I wasn't able to eat more than one slice before it made me sick. Many of the so-called "vegetable" dishes contain more cheese and eggs and bacon (!) than vegetables! With the exception of the pancake mix, EVERY one of the twenty or so recipes I tried from this book turned out much too greasy and heavy and salty. There is also a lot of waste from using so many canned and prepared foods. IF YOU CARE AT ALL ABOUT WHAT GOES INTO YOUR BODY, DON'T BUY THIS BOOK!
