After two years of label hassles and post 9/11 delays, Barry Ashworth and his Dub Pistols return with long delayed album Six Million Ways To Live.

Dub Pistols have done everything it’s possible to do in a band and still want more. They’ve toured the US more times than most of us have changed channels, had their music appear on so many Hollywood blockbuster films that not even mainman Barry Ashworth can remember them all, though he does remember recording the title track for Y Tu Mama Tambien with Mexican band Molotov and hooking up with Busta Rhymes for the Blade II soundtrack, played Australia and six Asian countries in less than a week and rocked it live alongside Fatboy Slim in New York the night before the horror that was September 11th, 2001, watching as the "shit hit the fan" from their hotel room across the country in LA the next day.

Now, rather more happily, they’ve recorded the best music of their lives, and they’ve recorded it with reggae legend and sometime Massive Attack collaborator Horace Andy, ex-Specials hero, Terry Hall, Cali Agent rapper Planet Asia and New York crew Sight Beyond Light.

Six Million Ways To Live is an album where the warm pulse of hip-hop, dub and ska receive a thorough seeing to via the needle-sharp miracle of modern technology. Make no mistake, this is the perfect album to give your stereo the summer work-out it so obviously needs.

A great mixture of hip hop/electronica/ska in the vein of Fatboy Slim meets Massive Attack.

Horace Andy lends vocals to the terrific reggae tinged "Sound Clash". Next up is Terry Hall on the equally impressive "Problem Is". "6 Million Ways to Live" may be the finest acoustic rap song ever. The hip hopish quartet of "Rip Tides", "Soul Shaking", "Soldiers" and "Still Breathing" are all fine tracks.

"Architect", a bust out, in your face blend of electronica and big beats, is my favorite track. Things certainly don't taper off with the grooves of "Official Chemical". In high style the downtempo "6AM" closes things out.

Grab a few copies to pass out to friends who'll be hooked too.

I rolled through the album the other day when I got it and really nothing stood out for me, nothing calling be back. Don't get me wrong it's good, well produced, tight, with a slight edge to it. Just doesn't resonate.

I was introduced to the Dub Pistols by Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2. I enjoyed their first ablum but this one just blows Point Blank away. Their sound is tighter and there are more instruments.

Everything on this disc is good but Soul Shaking is the stand-out for me. So much raw power flows through that track.
