A book which is for the contemporary woman, October 17, 1999
This review is from: Six New Gospels: New Testament Women Tell Their Stories (Paperback)
This is a sensitive book which speaks to the women of our day by personalizing some well-known and some not-so-well-known women of the Bible. I was astounded at my real interest in the behind-the-scenes possibilities in these women's lives. How many of you have even WONDERED about the Samaritan Woman at the Well? In this book, she may come alive for you. The opposing personalities of Mary and Martha are presented so lovingly. A very long chapter told from the point-of-view of Mary, the mother of Jesus, takes you right into her bewilderment, embarrassment and agony. This is an excellent book for study and discussion with footnotes on history, geography & culture of the times in which these stories took place.

A fresh and powerful look at women's role in the Kingdom, August 28, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Six New Gospels: New Testament Women Tell Their Stories (Paperback)
Six New Gospels is an insightful and intellectual view of the role of six of our most well known women of the bible. The author has done an outstanding job of bringing them to life. She is able to pose the essence of what these women might truly have been. Her style is clear and inviting. I was moved to tears by the power and the possibility presented in the story of Mary of Bethany. What a gift for women of faith everywhere!
