If you are looking for a top-notch, action filled movie about NASCAR, this ain't it! Kenny Rogers stars as Brewster Baker, a onetime Grand National racing star who is on the come back trail. While Kenny Rogers is not the most talented actor, he does exuberate loads of charm in saving his newly acquired "Six Pack" of orphans from a corrupt sheriff, aptly played by Barry Corbin. Dianne Lane and Anthony Michael Hall give great early career performances in this delightful movie. To be fair, Robby Still's character Swifty does swear A LOT! But he is admonished by Brewster for his behavior. Overall a fun movie with a little racing and a great show song, "Love Will Turn You Around" from Kenny Rogers.

This movie is a bit dated but in that respect, it depicts the now mega sport in its earlier days of small dirt tracks and honestly shows where many of todays drivers get their start. Check out the scenes from Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The only objection I have heard to this movie, that was halfway objective, was that the attitude of the kids and language could be improved. Now I understand that judgement, but either you need to get eye surgery or or be realistic about your outlook. When I first saw this movie when it was released I fell in love with it. I'm no kid either, in fact I'm now 52. This movie is realistic and has some great acting and comedy. So if you're concerned about how it will affect kids, why don't you sit down and watch it with them. Everyone should have a laugh.

It is sad to me that funny family movies like this have not come out on DVD when there is so much junk that has come out on DVD. I don't know who is keeping this from coming out on DVD but I for one will buy it when it does. I went ahead and ordered this on VHS because there is no indication that it will be on DVD anytime soon.

This is one of the first movies I rented as a kid. Makes me laugh now thinking about that xmas , how the family got a "VCR", it was the coolest thing then. Anyways, my family, all relatives, and friends all went to the races every Saturday night (still do) so this movie was perfect. When I rented it in 82 or 83 or whatever it was, I damn near wore it out by watching it over and over. I bought this flick from Amazon on VHS a few years back, and I have watched it about 20 times since then. Pretty funny for a 32 year old guy like me to do that but this movie is kick ass. It better make it to DVD here soon because it would fill a void in my growing collection. This movie has been at the top of my list for years to add to the collection so Anchor Bay better not screw us on this release!!! Awesome movie!!!!!

I agree with most other reviews saying that this movie is good but not great. But on the other hand I too grew up watching this movie and for some reason longed to be a race car driver, going from town to town. This movie is on my list of "need to gets" but for gods sake when are they going to release on DVD in widescreen???

This was one of my favorite movies growing up . I just recently purchased a copy of this movie for my family and now my kids love it as well . Kenny Rogers was terrific in this simple role and who doesn't love Erin Gray . Some how we all were able to relate to these kids in some way . I give this movie 4 stars for plain simple enjoyable fun .

When I was a boy I loved this movie. I would watch it everyday. Play, rewind. Play rewind. My friend Alisa would come over to my house and we would hold hands and watch the movie. We loved being together to watch the cinematic masterpiece that is Six Pack! Diane Lane is fantastic as the innocent looking vixen. See her in 'Unfaithful'. Good movie with a lot of explict adult situations. Schwing!

KENNY ROGERS is delightful in this charming little film. The kids are great as well adding a lot of humour to the proceedings. You'll probably recognize the young actress who plays Breezy as it is DIANE LANE who has now gone on to become Hollywood A List material with 'The Perfect Storm', 'Murder At 1600', 'Streets of Fire' etc. She is fab in this movie! If you are a fan of 'nice' films, KENNY ROGERS or DIANE LANE you should definately check out 'SIX PACK'.

I grew up being obsessed with this movie. My brother and I would sit, dreaming of meeting sleazy race car drivers, shocked by the one kid's trashy language "Toad suckin' honkey bum," I think it was. I love Kenny Rogers, I, for some gross reason, find the bad guy race car driver extremely attractive, and I think the kid who sings "Good ol' Rocky Top" deserves a Grammy. I also remember loving Diane Lane (Breezy, Heather) and the kid with a lisp . Sure, it's not a movie that makes you think much, but it sure is enjoyable for some reason. It might just be because I grew up watching it (on Beta,) so please don't go buy it thinking it's going to be incredible.

When I was younger this was one of my sister's and my favorite movies. There is no good reason why we liked it so much, it didn't excel at any one thing. It is a feel good movie though, power of love and all that, and it is just plain fun.

Great movie! My 38 yr old son watched it and watched it and...........you get the idea.......when he was a kid. In fact, he couldn't sit still long enough to watch ANY movie or TV show......until SIX PACK came along.

Now HIS son wants to watch it and has been doing so on Youtube but it's broken up into 6-minute segments (ridiculous)..BUT......now that I've said all the good and proper things about this family movie, let me have the final word......Satan will need a parka before I spend a hundred bucks on a 30 yr old movie. Someone is OUTTA THEIR MIND! The only reason I can't rate this with 5 stars is the PRICE.
