B.B. King was,is and will be long after his mortal life bethe king of the blues, from his voice to his unforgettable guitar stylings.Until this all I heard of him were his early classics and two rare albums he recorded with The Crusaders in the 70's, whitch in my opinion are his best works. On this, his 50'th album King adopts some very 1980's production styles ("Big Boss Man" comes off like a blusier 'Billy Jean') and even throws in a soul cover of "In The Midnight Hour".On "In The Night" and "Double Trouble" he actually fuses a light, synthesized funk-fusion backdrop into his patented sound so everything on this album is very funky and has a groove. But that classic blues is always just boiling below the surface and B.B.King never ignores it for one second even while he experiements with new styles and strives to try out some new musical ideas. Now that's something every artist, no matter how prestuigious or how much of an institution they are, should try once and a while-keeps a person fresh.
