From School Library Journal
PreSchool-Grade 2-- Six sleepy sheep slip into slumber until one snoozer snores. Five insomniac sheep resolve their situations through silly solutions . . . and so it goes as the half-dozen dapper, black-faced, golden-fleeced woolly ones sashay through enough S's to satisfy even the greediest lover of alliteration. The combination of lively language and delightfully detailed pen-and-ink cartoons with cheerful watercolor washes and textures ensure gleeful moments in story times on numbers (although it doesn't work as a counting book) or sleep or sheep. Its small, square shape may limit the size of group in which it can be shared, but it's sure to amuse individual readers. Speech therapists tired of ``selling sea shells'' will love it. --Jody McCoy, Casady School, Oklahoma City
