"The Six Star Wars Films ... John Williams ... Silva (2008)",
This review is from: The Six Star Wars Films: New Recordings of the Classic Scores (Audio CD)
Silva Screen Records once again has outdone themselves with "THE SIX STAR WARS FILMS", all the splendor of this composer on 14 Tracks --- Williams creates visual moods for each film he scores...all individually wrapped-up into one neat package...just the way "film-score-buffs" like 'em...flavored with cues of action, adventure, mystery, romance, sentimental and suspense, the list could go on --- Every track moves you --- Each track comes back with a memory as the preceeding track ends --- It flows naturally and perfectly from score to score --- If you're looking for a piece of music to capture your heart and a deeper meaning of the film...you've found it --- Silva Screen's release traces several decades of Star Wars film music --- featuring "The City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra" --- conducted by Mr. Paul Bateman, Mr. James Fitzpatrick and Mr. Nic Raine (as always outstanding)...performing 14 selections, close to a full hour of symphonic suites with a full orchestra sound.
John Towner Williams (born February 8, 1932) is an American composer, conductor and pianist. In a career that spans six decades, Williams has composed many of the most famous film scores in history, including those for Jaws, Star Wars, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the Indiana Jones films, Jurassic Park, Hook, Schindler's List, Born on the Fourth of July, and Harry Potter --- In addition, he has composed theme music for four Olympic Games, NBC Nightly News, and numerous television series and concert pieces --- He served as the principal conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra from 1980 to 1993, and is now the orchestra's laureate conductor. Williams is a five-time winner of the Academy Award --- With 45 Academy Award nominations, Williams is, together with composer Alfred Newman, the second most nominated individual after Walt Disney --- He was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame in 2000, and was a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors in 2004.(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) The Six Star Wars Films (Track Listings) 1 Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope/Main Titles 5:26 2 Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope/Princess Leia 4:46 3 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back/The Imperial March 3:02 4 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back/Yoda's Theme 3:52 5 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back/The Asteroid Field 4:25 6 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back/Han Solo and the Princes 4:10 7 Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi/Forest Battle 3:54 8 Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace/The Flag Parade 3:19 9 Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace/Anakin's Theme 2:52 10 Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace/The Adventures of Jar Jar 3:27 11 Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace/Duel of the Fates 4:09 12 Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones/Across the Stars 5:43 13 Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith/Battle of the Heroes 4:25 14 Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope/The Throne Room/Finale 7:35 Must ask the following to take a bow ~ James Fitzpatrick (compilation producer), always in there pitching, Reynold da Silva (executive producer), Rick Clark (mastered tracks), Paul Bateman, James Fitzpatrick and Nic Raine performing the conducting duties, a tremen!dous asset to every project they undertake --- John Williams (Composer) and the label which made it all possible -- Silva Screen Records --- must say this collection is a keeper! I picked up a copy of this at my local used CD store (sorry Amazon) and was floored. The recording quality is simply phenomenal - if you listen on good equipment, you will be convinced that you are watching an orchestra have at John Williams's original works. This is a must for any Star Wars fan, or any audiophile or audio enthusiast who enjoyed the Star Wars music.
