5.0 out of 5 stars "The Six Star Wars Films ... John Williams ... Silva (2008)"
Silva Screen Records once again has outdone themselves with "THE SIX STAR WARS FILMS", all the splendor of this composer on 14 Tracks --- Williams creates visual moods for each film he scores...all individually wrapped-up into one neat package...just the way "film-score-buffs" like 'em...flavored with cues of action, adventure, mystery, romance, sentimental and suspense,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than I hoped.
This is better than I'd hoped since it isn't John Williams and the London Symphony. There are several conductors, some better than others, but in all a pleasant surprise. I wish I could get the original music like is on the DVD included with the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The Six Star Wars Films ... John Williams ... Silva (2008)", August 5, 2008
This review is from: The Six Star Wars Films: New Recordings of the Classic Scores (Audio CD)
Silva Screen Records once again has outdone themselves with "THE SIX STAR WARS FILMS", all the splendor of this composer on 14 Tracks --- Williams creates visual moods for each film he scores...all individually wrapped-up into one neat package...just the way "film-score-buffs" like 'em...flavored with cues of action, adventure, mystery, romance, sentimental and suspense, the list could go on --- Every track moves you --- Each track comes back with a memory as the preceeding track ends --- It flows naturally and perfectly from score to score --- If you're looking for a piece of music to capture your heart and a deeper meaning of the film...you've found it --- Silva Screen's release traces several decades of Star Wars film music --- featuring "The City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra" --- conducted by Mr. Paul Bateman, Mr. James Fitzpatrick and Mr. Nic Raine (as always outstanding)...performing 14 selections, close to a full hour of symphonic suites with a full orchestra sound.

John Towner Williams (born February 8, 1932) is an American composer, conductor and pianist. In a career that spans six decades, Williams has composed many of the most famous film scores in history, including those for Jaws, Star Wars, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the Indiana Jones films, Jurassic Park, Hook, Schindler's List, Born on the Fourth of July, and Harry Potter --- In addition, he has composed theme music for four Olympic Games, NBC Nightly News, and numerous television series and concert pieces --- He served as the principal conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra from 1980 to 1993, and is now the orchestra's laureate conductor.

Williams is a five-time winner of the Academy Award --- With 45 Academy Award nominations, Williams is, together with composer Alfred Newman, the second most nominated individual after Walt Disney --- He was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame in 2000, and was a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors in 2004.(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

I picked up a copy of this at my local used CD store (sorry Amazon) and was floored. The recording quality is simply phenomenal - if you listen on good equipment, you will be convinced that you are watching an orchestra have at John Williams's original works. This is a must for any Star Wars fan, or any audiophile or audio enthusiast who enjoyed the Star Wars music.

I bought this for my 13 year old son who loves Star Wars. He also has the musical score for this and he loves them both. He said the music was really awesome. Great CD, not one song I wouldn't recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars All the Star Wars music on one CD!, January 7, 2012

It was fun to finally find a CD that had all the music from all of the Star Wars episodes and at an affordable price. The music is in order of the movie releases. It is the original music of John Williams, but not by the London Symphony that you hear in the movies. The music is wonderful, but I miss some of the beautiful nuances and emotion that are in the original... perhaps the orchestra is too technically accurate? However, I am still please with the purchase and value.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, some songs sound better than ever. Some don't., January 19, 2010

As a huge fan of John Williams and Star Wars, you could say that I know my songs inside and out. Needless to say that when I saw this item, I felt the need to buy it. Some of the songs sound better than ever, but a few of them (Battle of the Heroes in particular) sound quite differently, and it bugs someone like myself. I realize that John Williams isn't the be-all, end-all of music, but his versions are often superior.

Still, if you are a Star Wars fan, or even a music fan in general, you owe it to yourself to give this a shot.
