this book is mostly abbout diet and not exercises. I was really turned off by that. not worth it.

I have never managed to work out for more than a week or two at a time. I just hate working out. Unfortunately, this dislike has negatively impacted me - with weight gain and loss of "strength" to do the everyday things now that I've hit 40. I have said for years that I didn't even have any muscles in my body - that's how untoned I was. The great thing about Darden's ideas is the brief amount of time it takes - 15 minutes three times a week. I'm starting my 8th consecutive week and I'm really enthused with my progress. I have muscles in my arms and legs that I never had. My back muscles are beginning to be noticable. I haven't lost any weight - but I haven't attempted the diet part of his book. I'm just happy right now that I've found something I can stick with that builds metabolically active tissue so that when I do start dieting my body will burn fat and allow me to lose weight.

I read this book and followed all it's steps including the diet. It worked excellently. I lost inches. I was overweight by much but I needed a lot of toning. I wanted to have a waist. I was in the best physical shape ever after six weeks. I plan on doing the program again. Now after 2 children I need my shape back and I know for a fact following this program will give it to me.

I randomly picked this book up from the library three weeks ago. I'm a senior in college and I've been dealing with the infamous "freshman fifteen" for the past few years, but never really got motivated enough to do anything about it. This book was perfect for me because it tells you exactly what to eat and exactly how to do the exercises. The food is actually really good, and the exercising doesn't take long at all. So far, in three weeks, I've lost 10 pounds, 1 1/2" off my waist, and 1" off my hips. I can literally pull off pants that I bought two months ago without unbuttoning them, and it's been only three weeks! (And I've cheated a bit...)
I highly reccomend this book for any woman looking for a way to get rid of some extra pounds quickly and easily!

It worked great for me! I lost three inches around my waist and went from 134 to 125lbs. This is after spending 2 years exercising 3 to 5 times per week with no weight or inch loss.
It seemed like a miracle to me and it can work for you, too.

The only change I made was to add aerobics to my routines. I did 15 to 20 minutes on the ski machine before the toning exercises. Other than that, I followed the recipes which were very easy and tasty and was amazed at how quickly I was able to fit into my clothes again. Now, I will be able to shop for the same size and I am delighted about that.

I was given this book to follow by a trainer I signed up with. He thought it would be the best choice for me. I followed the eating program in the book and worked with him three days a week for the first six weeks. I lost an overall of 20 1/2 inches and 24 lbs. I decided to go for another 6 weeks coupled with my training work outs. Amazing results. I lost another 19 inches and 20.5 lbs. I felt great, wore smaller sizes weighing more than I used to at that clothing size. My body looked healthy,toned and my energy level was great. Over a 12 year time period and now almost 50 I am buying the book and doing it again. It works if you make the commitment. I gained some weight back over these 12 years and am wanting to feel good again. This is the go-to-book and plan to make that happen!

It has been may years ago now, but I was one of the study participants featured in this book and had the top results of the study group. I lost 18 1/4 pounds of body fat and 3 inches from my waist. I found it much tougher to stay on the program without a personal trainer (after the 6 weeks was over) as it really helps to have an appointment to work out and weigh in 3x a week. It also was tough to stay on it the last 2 of the 6 weeks as it is only 1000 calories a day and I am 5'10", but I stuck it out. If I wasn't part of the study for the book, I would have stuck to 1200 calories a day. It really takes a lot of discipline but if you are determined this program really works and teaches you how to eat healthy in the process. If you can do it with a personal trainer or coach you'll have a much better chance of success. You'll love the results!

Really like this strength-training and eating plan. I was hoping to find a plan that was all "laid-out" and wouldn't require a lot of time setting up. It's all there for you to follow. Also, it includes all the recipes you need and they don't require exotic, expensive or hard-to-find ingredients. Plus, the recipes are easy to make and best of all, not overly seasoned like some plans. Highly recommend giving this plan a try.

Ellington Darden is the greatest. All his books are the best. I have had the privilege of receiving strength training directly from Dr. Darden and he transformed my life and how I think about fitness and how to achieve it. Straight talk at its best. Don't waste money on all the voodoo advice out there.
