Book Description

Ivillage Solutions July 2, 2003

According to an exclusive iVillage survey, 45% of women have lost weight and gained it back three or more times in the last five years. The key to beating the yo-yo cycle is finding a program you can live with for the rest of your life. Here is the answer women have been looking for!

Six Weeks to Losing it for Good, based on the "Lose it for Good Community Challenge," helps women identify their eating and fitness personalities, and then guides them through six weeks of lifestyle change structured to meet their unique needs. Featuring self-assessment tests, professionally-developed diet and exercise plans tailored for different personality types, journaling, and more, this book presents a common-sense -- and destined-for-success -- approach to weight-loss.

I am a veteran of Weight Watchers (lost 25 lbs., kept it off 2 yrs.) and protein diets (ditto, kept it off 3 yrs). This program is just what I needed to jumpstart my weight loss again. It has 24+ days of menus, which is just what I needed--I can never decide what to eat on a diet, and this book tells you, day by day. The menus allow for substitution: I substituted peanut butter for hummus, a tangerine for a banana, etc. I haven't been hungry, because it allows for snacks. Also has 3 types of exercise programs, for those who like walking; those who like variety; and those who work out in gyms. The program is very flexible, the book is easy to follow, and anyone who half tries should be able to lose weight.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked for me!, September 10, 2003

I used this book (it was my wife's), and although its from a women's website, I found the approaches easy and practical. We followed this book together for about 5 weeks -- I lost about 15 pounds and she lost about 10. I was about 215 before and came out about 200. Now I'm a 34 and was 36. That was 3 months ago and no change yet. Try it - it works.

Very easy way to lose weight. Lots of practical advice. I loved the fact that it's based on an ivillage community challenge. I've lost 10 lbs. already.
