5.0 out of 5 stars Six Stars for Six Wheels!
A little over a year ago, I bought Risotto on a vacation and figured it could not be beat.. by anyone or anything. Then I get Six Wheels and it seems as though Fluke has created a masterpiece that perhaps defeats the mighty, incredible Risotto album (and the album "Oto", which is still excellent, but in my opinion doesn't even compare with these). This CD...

This CD is almost totally different in style, but it still manages to keep the Fluke feel. Several songs on this album are specific mixes of tracks that are on individual singles, i.e. Groovy Feeling (Make Mine a 99 Mix). Sometimes the selected mixes are better than the others, sometimes not.. but it doesn't matter because this whole album is fantastic. Fluke utilizes vocals much more frequently in this CD than in Risotto.. which in the electronic realm may seem like a drawback, but it in no way takes away from the music, it actually enhances it. In tracks like Groovy Feeling, Letters, Slid, and Lifesupport.. the vocals are essential to get across the feeling of the song. With this release Fluke changes styles.. they explore everything from prog. house and trance to ambient to poppy trip hoppy. It's all spectacular! Some of the best tracks I think are 1,2,6,7,9,12. Anyway, if you're a huge electronic (or even pop) music fan, you will NOT be disappointed! GET THIS CD! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Seminal techno/house album by Beaconsfield's finest, October 13, 2001
By
This review is from: Six Wheels on My Wagon (Audio CD)
From the opener 'Groovy Feeling' you can hear this is going to be a great album. More mature and knowledgeable in their musical tastes, Fluke were never going to make a boring techno/house record that others have. (See Underworld's 'Beacoup Fish').

Dance orientated enough to get the younger generations listening but also musically complex enough to get the mums and dads out there to take notice, this album showcases the best in techno, house, trip-hop and ambient dub.

'Electric Guitar' will always be at home both on the stereo and on the dancefloor, 'Slid' remains a great pop song and 'Top of the World' builds and builds as only a Fluke song can.

Get this now, you'll always find time to listen to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ignore the release date; this is now, September 26, 2000
This review is from: Six Wheels on My Wagon (Audio CD)
I am normally scared off by release dates as old as this one, but I think _SWOMW_ actually sounds *better* today than it did in 1993. It's a fantastic CD. The eclectic mix of aural and vocal styles make it a favorite in the office. Accessible, but worth repeated listens. Worth the import surcharge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple but elegant!, July 5, 1999

I heard rissoto first, and became completely obsessed with it... Fluke is just an amazing band, like Underworld, but different... Anyways, Six Wheels on my Wagon is definitely a more minmalistic album, in my opinion, or at least, a less varied album... the songs retain a consistent mellow theme through the whole album... not like the gritty peaks and sleepy valleys of Rissoto.. i love both of them, they're both awesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Musical Genius - and it's no fluke!, March 8, 1999
This review is from: Six Wheels on My Wagon (Audio CD)
Although only just released (on import), this CD has been in my possesion for a couple of years now and when it's on my Walkman it still causes my motor cycle to reach light speed! I have many CD's by Fluke but this one has to be the best, even better than "Fluke - The Peel Sessions", a series of tracks broadcast live by the BBC during their frequent guest appearances on the John Peel show. If, like me you prefer non-vocal tracks, you will appreciate this CD even more because on the rare occasion they do sing, their voices are somewhere in the back ground of the melody.

If you are tempted to buy just one Fluke CD to see if you like them, then buy this one and thank me for it

Parts of it are pretty boring, to tell the truth. Tracks like "Slid" and "Astrosapiens" come close to being inspired but they don't quite make it. That's the way I feel about the whole CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vicious Dance Tunes And Sweet Electric Sounds!, July 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Six Wheels on My Wagon (Audio CD)
What should probably be called Fluke's first full length album is, without a doubt, a must-have. Three of the cuts, namely Groovy Feeling, Electric Guitar and Slid seem to be remixes of songs by various other artists. Although I have no idea what the originals sound like, they do an admirable job of making them easy to listen to. Their own material is also extremely well done, although some of the music tends to lean away from the electronica I'm used to, and more towards the dancy, pop-albumish music you hear on the Top 40, if only for a minute. But it's forgivable, and this Fluke fan is desperately awaiting a new release sometime in the next year or two, if only to add to my already extensive collection of Fluke CD's. Well done, guys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly great music., March 30, 1999

And absolutely amazing CD. Has fast but freindly sounds in some tracks, and slow (motion) songs on others. Truly fantastic. Great to listen to any time, whether it's to move to or just sit back and chill. Everyone should have the oppurtunity to be exposed to this kind of music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cold, Techno, Beat Driven, Pulsating Collection, March 16, 1999
This review is from: Six Wheels on My Wagon (Audio CD)
If cold, techno music is your thing Fluke will more than satisfy. Completely computer oriented, yet strangely atmospheric, describes this collection of mind-numbing (in a good way), infectious mood music. Great to drive to on long hauls....clears your mind and lets it wander.....a great escape. It would make a great soundtrack for a futuristic/sci-fi adventure flick
