I have a first printing of this wee book from 1964. My then 6 year old son and I saw JFK "up close and personal" when he landed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida four days before he died. He rode in an open convertible around the flight line and came within 10 feet of us. My son who is now 56 says this memory is imbedded in his mind forever. When this book was published I rushed to a department store in downtown Tampa to buy it. The price was $1.75. The young girl who wrote this book is to be commended. A wonderful book regardless of ones political leanings. I ordered this book to give to a friend.....my grandson who is now an M.D. ..... gets the original.

This is a poem narrating a child's view of his father's funeral procession. The child does not immediately understand death, but at the end, he realizes the consequences of the loss of his father, so it is somewhat sad.

My parents bought each of their five children a copy of Six White Horse by Candy Geer and I still have my copy, which was from the 2nd Printing, March 1964. It's a bittersweet little book that is beautifully illustrated by another teenager, Leslie Bennet. I have always loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who is a collector of JFK memorabilia.
