This is a very entertaining and thought provoking book. Perfect for when you do not have alot of time to devote to reading, but still want to read something stimulating. I read it while recuperating. It was great because I did not have the energy to concentrate for long periods.

Great idea! Basis? Hemingway's famous six.

"For Sale: baby shoes, never worn." (Ernest Hemingway)

My favorites, some funny, some poignant.

Loved. Lost. Cried. Raged. Chocolate. Next. (Jackie Childress)

Married by Elvis. Divorced by Friday. (G.M. Rouse)

Bad idea being wife number four. (M.J. Miller)

She wanted Gatsby. Got "Gets By." (Beth Connellan)

Siren wooed. Sailor swooned. Man overboard! (Jim Ruland)

Only 130 pages, 6 words per.

Too short. Wanted more. 3 stars,

I'm not famous and I'm obscure. However, I am a proud contributor to this wonderful, little, book. It's filled with, serious, funny, sad, frustrating, and clever, "Six Word Memoirs on Love & Heartbreak." It's a great book, and definitely a conversation starter. You can enjoy it yourself, or read it out loud. Pretty soon you'll be thinking of your own tales of love.

The new memoirs in the Love and Heartbreak edition are very entertaining. For the most part they are witty or emotional, but not super cheesy, as you might expect from a love-themed book.

I really wanted to like the volumes in the "six word memoir" series, but....
Although this one isn't quite as bad as the teen edition ("I Can't Keep My Own Secrets"), it's still pretty bad.
Fortunately, it's a quick read, and the design of the book is good.
A "memoir" is normally considered to be a remembrance that's communicated to others because it's interesting.
However, the contents of this volume is better described as a terse litany of regrets, or compact versions of the worst thing that ever happened to a person. Some are actually quite disturbing, made even more so by the lack of context.
Many of the "memoirs" are written in third person -- not first -- making them seem more about other people than about the author. In fact, rather than "six word memoirs", most of the contributions could more accurately be characterized as "six word confessions", "six word advice", "six word mottoes", or "six word epitaphs".

the smith mag folks did it again! the six-word format on love and heartbreak is every bit as smart and fresh as the first. the stories are uncannily moving, profound, and funny. i buy these books 10 at a time. totally original, cheap and fun dinner party presents. we pass them around and read the memoirs. addictive.

I bought this when looking for a quote to engrave on the inside of my husbands wedding band.

I really enjoyed reading it but wish it were longer!

There are some really great quotes that I'm considering and they aren't so sappy.

This book would have been a favorite had I read it at nineteen instead of fifty-two; love and romance just doesn't have the zing it once did for me. I can't seem to get the pain of heartbreak any more. Is it my age?

I found the first book, little six-word tales of a life, much more clever.

Still, it's always fun to read such tiny stories.
