About the extra tracks..., September 13, 1999

The three extra tracks included on this cd are "There She Goes", their letter perfect cover of the(where are they now?) La's one hit. Also the most impressive live version of Kiss Me I've heard, recorded in Hollywood right around the time of the record's release. The bass guitar shows awesome versatility on this version. And finally a wonderful little tune called "Sad But True". No, it's not a cover of the Metallica cruncher, but an awesome original tune that once again, the band proves excellent musicianship and songwriting without needless flashiness. I highly recomend this title.

This is Christian rock that doesn't dwell on Christianity, just peace. The singles "Kiss Me" and "There She Goes" don't reflect the rest of the tracks, however, as the majority of the songs are profoundly intense. This is something like a soundtrack for getting over depression. The lyrics are sorrowfully introspective and uplifting at once. The music ranges from quiet shimmering to full-blown rock. All of the songs have a therapeutic, healing quality; heard especially in "Moving On," "I Won't Stay Long," and "Sister, Mother." So if you've heard only the singles, buy the CD. It's amazing. But expect rock, not pop.
