By Krista Schrader (Jacksonville, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sixteen and Dying (One Last Wish) (Mass Market Paperback)
As the title says, this has to be one of her best. She gives Anne, a young girl at the age of 16, a great personality. Anne is diagnosed with HVI, which was transferred to her through blood that was ment to save her life when she was 10. As her 'One Last Wish' she goes to a ranch out in Colorado where she meets Marti, a young mislead girl who becomes her friend, and Morgan, a wild cowboy that keeps a mysterious secret. She soon becomes very close with them, especially Morgan, but she can't forget her diagnose. How long will Anne have to live?

The one that got me hooked...,
By
This review is from: Sixteen and Dying (One Last Wish) (Mass Market Paperback)
When I was ten, I read this book. Now I'm twenty-one and I haven't missed a Lurlene McDaniel novel since... not to mention the fact that I've scoured the Internet for every out-of-print book she's ever written. This novel hooked me immediately with its touching story and ability to convey the truth about what life is like for some unfortunate individuals. Too many times in our sugar-coated society, teens are unaware of the horrors that exist in life. McDaniel has the innate ability to create the awareness that is so desperately needed by teens while still entertaining the reader as well as not scaring him or her completely. Emotions run rampant in everyone of McDaniel's novels; but this one is a good starting point because it's incredibly gentle in its realities. Many adolescents may not comprehend the fact that 16-year-olds get AIDS; but this novel introduces those facts and leaves the readers hungry for more. And, as we all know, awareness is the best preventative action of all.

One of the best books i ever read!,

This review is from: Sixteen and Dying (One Last Wish) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'v never been very into books, Untill one day, last year, when a friend of mine told me about a book that she read and suggested that i read it. I told her i don't really like to read but she said that it was one of the best books she has ever read, so i told her i would read it. I checked it out from our school library and soon i was reading the book and enjoying it. I liked the book so much. I then began to read other Lurlene McDaniel books and loved them just as much. I just recently finnished Sixteen and Dying, and it was such a good book. it had a little of everything in it, romance, humor, friendship and everthing else that makes a great book the best! I will admit that i did cry and if you have as such a weekness for romance and illness, as do I, then you probably will too! i can't wait to read "Reach for Tomorrows" where we can learn more about Morgan Lancaster and what becomes of him. i really want to thank Lurlene McDaniel for writing these books, i've read a bunch of them and truly enjoy them! i hope you do too!

Absolutely brilliant!,
This review is from: Sixteen and Dying (One Last Wish) (Mass Market Paperback)
I just finished this book yesturday, and I am searching for more. It was my second Lurlene Mcdaniel book, and all I can say is that this may be the best book I have ever read. I could not put the book down. The story just draws you in and I think most people can relate to the story in one area or another. WHen I put the book down I cried, and if it can touch me like that, I think it can touch the millions of people who will, or have, read it. I just fell in love with it, and now I am rereading it. It was just absolutly brilliant.

Dying at a young age The book I read was Sixteen and Dying. It was a really good. The book is a bout a girl she is Sixteen. She went to the doctor and found out she had aids. The she had to spend her spring break in the hospital. For the summer she went to a camp with her dad she loves to ride horses and this camp had horses. Her first day there she met some one. Her name was Marti. Marti spends her summers out there working there. Then Anne meets this guys named Morgan . Morgan has a crush on Anne. Annes dad told Morgan that they could not like each other. Anne was really up set. One day Anne cut her hand and Morgan was there. He tried to help her. She said no I don't need your help. Because of her HIVs. Things I like about the book was that it was kinda romantic. Morgan was nice to Anne and was a good friend to her. This was a really good book to read. That's if you like romantic book.

Sixteen and Dying,

This review is from: Sixteen and Dying (One Last Wish) (School & Library Binding)
I think this book was great. It was one of the first books I have read of McDaniel. Anne was very responsible by making sure she didn't spead your diease. I think she went throw alot by not wanting to say goodbye to Morgan when she left the rench. But it was nice of Morgan to visit her (without her knowing) back in New York. The ended was sad on count of Anne dying but it was good the Morgan was there with her thorw the bad times.

I read the book Sixteen and Dying by Lurlene McDainel for a book report project in school. I thought that this book was a great book. I have read all of Mrs. McDaniel's books. They are full of detail as well as realism. Mrs. McDaniel's books are very real feeling. I like how she comes up with the ideas to write these types of books. I gave this book five stars because it was probably the best book I have read. I would recommend this book to anyone.

THE BEST!,

What can I say, except that it is simply the best. It will keep you up all night, wondering about Morgan and Anne. And when you finally fall asleep you'll dream all about the wonderful, well written story by my favorite author, Lurlene McDaniel. I really recommend any book written by her, especially "Sixteen and Dying", and "I'll be Seeing You", and "A Time to Die". Another great book written by her would be "Reach for Tomorrow" but you would have to be up to date on the One Last Wish novels to really get into it.

Blood screening was not required, until Janraury 1985. The blood happened to be was tainted. Then Anne became HIV positive, and got AIDS. Then she a letter and a check from the One Last Wish Foundation. She uses the money to go out west, to a ranch, where she falls for boy who lives there, Morgan, who also has a past. When she leaves all-of-suddenly, he follows her home. Then he helps takes care of her until she dies. She dies right after Christmas. Her present was a first-edition book of Emily Dickson. This is a wonderful book, that I had to rebuy many times, because the pages had my tears all over them.
