No opera singer, Ford is just a great natural bass-baritone and this CD sounds great. The title song is as catchy as ever. Its macho growling begs for comical, self-parodying treatment, but Ernie sings it straight, as it should be sung, yet with real compassion for rural workers trapped in dead end jobs.

Sixteen Tons,

I have heard this song from the time I was just a youngster. Ernie Ford is the greatest singer of this song with his deep resonating voice, his other secular songs, as well as his spirital songs. Sixteen Tons is the classic song of all time.

Los mineros del mundo la cantaban sin importar el idioma. Es un himno burlesco a la explotación del minero
