The Best Yet!, November 22, 1999

This review is from: Sixth Sense: A Cassidy James Mystery (Cassidy James Mysteries) (Paperback)
Every time I pick up a Kate Calloway, I'm more pleased than the time before. This one's even better than 5th Wheel! Kate has a way of making not only the protagonist Cassidy James and her entourage of faithful sidekicks both likeable and believable, but she makes the antagonists, or villains, if you will, equally intriguing. I love the psychic parts in this book. Having experienced a few telepathic experiences in my life, I appreciate the honesty and realness with which Kate handles this topic. Most of all, though, I like Cassidy James. She's not a super sleuth. She's not James Bond in drag. She's got inner struggles like the rest of us, fears, wants and flaws. She's not weak, far from it. But she's vulnerable and I find myself cheering for her the whole way. And I love the food! If Kate weren't a mystery writer, I'd swear she could write a cook book. But mystery writer she is, and I'm glad of it. I can't wait for the next Cassidy James mystery!

This is an enjoyable read. I did figure out the mystery halfway through the book so it wasn't that suspenseful but I did enjoy the story.
