Review

... a must-read for anyone who is passionate about growing a healthy, high impact church! A lot of people are discouraged about where our society is headed. Not me...I m actually encouraged and Zero to Sixty is one of the reasons why. It shows me that God is as involved as ever in inspiring a rising generation of spiritual leaders. With genuine resonance and relevance, Pastor Bob Franquiz gives great expression to the principles, insights, and struggles every leader needs to know, especially those who ve been called to serve in these bottom-line times. The days of people putting up with ambiguity and theory are long gone. They just want to know what works...period. Which is why I believe this book will be around for a long time. --Bob Coy, Senior Pastor Calvary Chapel of Fort Lauderdale

Bob Franquiz writes with raw honesty and creativity. His insight will make you dream. His humor will make you laugh. This book will help you become a better leader. --Mark Batterson, Lead Pastor, National Community Church, Author of In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day

Warning you might not like this book; in fact, if you are searching for the latest and greatest formula as to how to grow your ministry you will probably throw it across the room. This is not a book written on how to do ministry but rather what questions that ministry leaders should be asking. The things written about are easy to underline and highlight...but will be challenging to apply. However, I believe if a church is willing to step on the gas and go from Zero to Sixty that major Kingdom impact will take place. Thanks, Bob, for writing a book that both encouraged me in some things and kicked me in the teeth in others...I loved it! --Perry Noble, Senior Pastor, NewSpring Church

5.0 out of 5 stars Mistakes Are the Portals of Discovery, July 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Zero to Sixty-60 Principles and Practices for Leading a Growing Church (Paperback)
One of the most common barriers to church leadership is a lack of intentional self-development on the part of the pastor. No organization can outgrow its leader.

When a pastor stops growing personally, the sermons are stale, the passion for ministry wanes, the staff and volunteers fall into maintenance mode and the church stops thriving.

Two of the best ways to circumvent this growth barrier are 1) to read books that will stretch you and 2) to seek out mentors you admire.

With Zero To Sixty, Bob has left you no excuse for shirking self-development. Not only is this a book that will challenge you, forcing you to think through the hard issues of day-to-day ministry, but it is written as if Bob were sitting across a table from you, sharing his heartfelt lessons in person. In the following pages, you will gain practical truth and teaching, yes, but you will also gain something you might not expect - a mentor to walk you through those truths and teachings one step at a time.

Here's my advice to you, church leader. Don't simply read this book. Use it. Write in the margins. Note the points that stand out to you. Discuss the lessons and their application with your staff. Invite another church leader to lunch and share what you are learning. Drink this book in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enlightening & Affirming, September 15, 2009
This review is from: Zero to Sixty-60 Principles and Practices for Leading a Growing Church (Paperback)
Let me first say that I've known Bob personally for almost 3 years. We were in a pastor's coaching network together for about 6 months when his church was quite a bit smaller than now. When he wrote a book, I thought, "I want to know what Bob has learned since then."

Well, Zero to Sixty does not disappoint. Every chapter is written with practicality in mind. These are things that pastors and ministry leaders can DO, not merely know. Bob doesn't get caught up with complicated explanations or stories with little relevance. He poignantly and succinctly gets right to the heart of the matter and confronts each issue & topic with straightforward honesty.

When I finished Zero to Sixty I had 8-10 specific things that I needed to go and do RIGHT NOW! With another 6-7 things in reserve, Bob gave me the tools to help me make improvements in our church immediately. Bob is a great guy and this is a great book. I'm glad I bought it and would recommend it highly to those who want to do something to improve their church and reach people for Christ.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth more than its weight in gold!, February 11, 2010
This review is from: Zero to Sixty-60 Principles and Practices for Leading a Growing Church (Paperback)
Zero to Sixty by Bob Franquiz is an invaluable book worth far more than its weight in gold. Throughout the chapters, Franquiz delivers time-tested principles to grow both the Body of Christ and on an individual level as a strong leader. From devising an effective study routine to setting goals & vision, Franquiz will keep feeding you practical gifts for your ministry. Reading this book will give you a crash course in leadership, discipleship, evangelism, and whole lot more that they don't (but wish that they would) teach you in seminary!

I highly recommend buying multiple copies - one for your reference collection and some for your ministry leaders.
