This review is from: Zero to Sixty-60 Principles and Practices for Leading a Growing Church (Paperback)
One of the most common barriers to church leadership is a lack of intentional self-development on the part of the pastor. No organization can outgrow its leader.
When a pastor stops growing personally, the sermons are stale, the passion for ministry wanes, the staff and volunteers fall into maintenance mode and the church stops thriving. Two of the best ways to circumvent this growth barrier are 1) to read books that will stretch you and 2) to seek out mentors you admire. With Zero To Sixty, Bob has left you no excuse for shirking self-development. Not only is this a book that will challenge you, forcing you to think through the hard issues of day-to-day ministry, but it is written as if Bob were sitting across a table from you, sharing his heartfelt lessons in person. In the following pages, you will gain practical truth and teaching, yes, but you will also gain something you might not expect - a mentor to walk you through those truths and teachings one step at a time. Here's my advice to you, church leader. Don't simply read this book. Use it. Write in the margins. Note the points that stand out to you. Discuss the lessons and their application with your staff. Invite another church leader to lunch and share what you are learning. Drink this book in. -- From the Forward by Nelson Searcy

Enlightening & Affirming,
By
This review is from: Zero to Sixty-60 Principles and Practices for Leading a Growing Church (Paperback)
Let me first say that I've known Bob personally for almost 3 years. We were in a pastor's coaching network together for about 6 months when his church was quite a bit smaller than now. When he wrote a book, I thought, "I want to know what Bob has learned since then."
Well, Zero to Sixty does not disappoint. Every chapter is written with practicality in mind. These are things that pastors and ministry leaders can DO, not merely know. Bob doesn't get caught up with complicated explanations or stories with little relevance. He poignantly and succinctly gets right to the heart of the matter and confronts each issue & topic with straightforward honesty. When I finished Zero to Sixty I had 8-10 specific things that I needed to go and do RIGHT NOW! With another 6-7 things in reserve, Bob gave me the tools to help me make improvements in our church immediately. Bob is a great guy and this is a great book. I'm glad I bought it and would recommend it highly to those who want to do something to improve their church and reach people for Christ.

Zero to Sixty by Bob Franquiz is an invaluable book worth far more than its weight in gold. Throughout the chapters, Franquiz delivers time-tested principles to grow both the Body of Christ and on an individual level as a strong leader. From devising an effective study routine to setting goals & vision, Franquiz will keep feeding you practical gifts for your ministry. Reading this book will give you a crash course in leadership, discipleship, evangelism, and whole lot more that they don't (but wish that they would) teach you in seminary!
I highly recommend buying multiple copies - one for your reference collection and some for your ministry leaders.

Perfect Timing....,
By Daniel Egipciaco (Miami, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Zero to Sixty-60 Principles and Practices for Leading a Growing Church (Paperback)
I wish I had this book when I planted Relevant Church in Miami. Our church is about 3-5 miles from Bob's church and I can attest to the success and effectiveness of Calvary Fellowship. The book deals with issues that other books I've read don't discuss. His honest approach and transparency allows you to connect with the book and as Nelson Searcy said you feel as if Bob were sitting across a table from you.
Where I am in my ministry today is exactly all the issues that he faced that caused him to rethink his ministry. Zero to Sixty will be an effective tool in helping our church reach its next level. I've ordered the book for our staff and I look forward to engaging in serious conversations with them. (Perfect Timing) If you are a church planter....this is a MUST READ!!!! If you're ministry is becoming stale....this is a MUST READ!!!! Bob, again thanks for taking the time to share your experiences this book will help many. Daniel Egipciaco Pastor Relevant Church/Church Planting Missionary.

In reading the other reviews I expected so much more from this book. Sorry, but I found it was a basic, common sense book that really didn't offer many new ideas.
