5.0 out of 5 stars a grand up-close-and-personal encounter with God, August 10, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Sixty Minutes With God: A Puzzled Pilgrim Bares His Questions and His Neck in a Spirited Encounter with No. 1 (Paperback)
Unlike other books of this type that almost force-feed the author's viewpoint with heavy theology, this author instead has taken a more casual approach, almost inviting us into his living room for an imaginary informal interview with God - a give-and- take with the Almighty that seems filled with the questions so many of us wonder about but are afraid to share, much less ask.

So many times I felt at one with the author as he told God of his struggles with a number of nagging issues in spite of a strong faith that I share along with him. Their talk ranges from questions of heaven and hell and the power of prayer to those questions asked by grieving and angry believers when tragedy or disaster occurs.Where was God then? We've all been there if we are to be honest. Sometimes their talk is warm and friendly, sometimes you found yourself smiling at God's way around answers, and sometimes - well, it got just a little barbed.

I came away with food for thought, but the simple but troubling questions thrown out to God made me think that I was not alone in my own puzzlements. Somehow, reading Jim Klobuchar made me feel I had made a friend. It's a small book, but I find its words stir within me long after I have read it.

Jim Klobuchar has written another winner. His honesty in sharing life experiences ( whether painful, confusing etc) is precisely what motivates, informs and inspires my own faith. His willingness to write about foibles and flaws with such openness,
vulnerability and honesty is the key for well earned wisdom.
Although a small book, I highly recommend this wonderful book as well worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Left me with a smile and warm feelings in my heart, October 16, 2003

This review is from: Sixty Minutes With God: A Puzzled Pilgrim Bares His Questions and His Neck in a Spirited Encounter with No. 1 (Paperback)
I've admired Mr. Klobuchar's writing style for years, dating back to his days as a columnist for the Minneapolis Star and Tribune. I was touched by his willingness to bare his soul in Pursued By Grace. And now, Sixty Minutes With God left me feeling like a privileged third party while he and the Almighty had a heart to heart conversation. He asked many of the same questions that have weighed on my mind, on my heart. I loved the myriad of emotions I felt as I read this book. As I turned the last page of the book I had a smile on my face, and warm feelings in my heart. Jim Klobuchar, you did it again. I highly recommend this wonderful book.
