About the Author

Sixty in Sarasota is the first in a series of comedy/mystery novels set on Florida's Sun Coast. George C. King's first novel, The Young Balboas, is an epic coming-of-age tale set in the Panama Canal Zone of the 1950's. Mr. King's novels are available at amazon.com, barnes&noble.com, xlibris.com, and Circle Books in Sarasota, Florida.

More About the Author

George C. King was a Navy brat, attending 15 different schools before going to college. Two of those schools were in the Panama Canal Zone, where he lived from 1955 to 1957. His stay there provided the source material for his first novel, THE YOUNG BALBOAS, a coming-of-age epic that unfolds in the lush Panamanian jungle.

Mr. King taught English literature for thirty-two years in Maryland, where he was cited for producing successful scores on the National Advanced Placement Test in English at twice the rate of teachers in other schools. He was also nominated for Teacher of the Year. Outside the classroom, Mr. King has been a nationally ranked tennis player, and he fishes in bass tournaments in Maine, where he and his wife own a log cabin on the shores of Lake Cobbosseecontee.

After retiring to Sarasota, Florida, in 2000, Mr. King has published five additional novels. His latest, SENILE IN SARASOTA, completes the trilogy of comedy-mysteries set in that state, preceded by SIXTY IN SARASOTA and SEXY IN SARASOTA. In all three works Mr. King displays an exceptional command of the English language and an outrageous sense of humor. Also set primarily in Florida is THE RUPTURE, a satire of the rapture, in which an extraterrestrial leads a revolt against the religions of Earth. Both SIXTY IN SARASOTA and THE RUPTURE have been Kindle best sellers. Mr. King's first e-novel, THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY, is a paranormal mystery and legal thriller set in Maryland and Maine. Signed copies of Mr. King's books may be purchased from the author in Sarasota, Florida, and Apple Valley Books (www.applevalleybooks.com)in Winthrop, Maine.

I am planning a trip to Sarasota and wanted to find some books either about the area, or set in the area and stumbled upon Sixty in Sarasota. I was immediately taken by the author and have read this and Sexy in Sarasota in the last week. George C. King reminds me a lot of Carl Hiaasen, so if you like his writing style and wit you will also enjoy George C King. I can't wait to read his other books and hope there will be more to come.

I totally enjoyed this book. I have to admit that some of that is because I know a bit about what the author was writing about when he mentions the Maine portions of the book. Been there, done that. However since the majority of the "action" takes place in Sarasota, that was minimal so don't think that influenced my review at all.

Mr. King is a very good writer. I have read his "Young Balboas", which is written in a totally different style, and enjoyed that one as well.

This book was fun, well written, and a quick read. There was just enough alliteration to make it fun to read. Since I was familiar with the Maine portions of the book, and some of the characters there, I can only wonder if some of the Florida portions were written about people he knows there. Interesting!!! These Florida authors seem to have a different way of looking at things! I am definitely planning to read the next one in the series.

If you want something light, fast, and fun to read I would recommend this.

I enjoyed this book, primarily, because I am familiar with Sarasota. It kept me guessing. A lot of interesting characters.
