I thought this book would be interesting any maybe have some helpful tips about dressing/make-up that sort of thing. But the Author just goes on bragging and bragging about who she knows! and who took pictures of her! Who cares!? Most women I know are not rich and single and in this economy can afford to go out and get manicures/pedicures and their hair done all the time! Get real! Also she goes from one minute saying " be happy with your size!" and the next minute is saying "don't be too fat!" She's just too wishy-washy and full of herself for me. I would not recommend this book.

I wanted very much to like Stella Ellis' book, but found most of it cliche-ridden and repetitive. Her story is interesting, but it does not bear repeating on every other page. She sees herself as a wonderful, "voluptuous" exception to the fashion world, but is convinced that you, too, can be just like her. I'm all about loving and accepting yourself, and treating yourself well, especially when it comes to presenting yourself to the world. But Ms. Ellis' advice to just ignore others' judgments falls flat. She seems to believe you can just will yourself to better self esteem. I agree that a lot of it is all in our heads, but more concrete advice on how to love ourselves better, outside of taking bubble baths and buying sexy lingerie, would have been welcome. I'm sure Ms. Ellis is a very charming woman; I'm just not sure she's a very good writer. I found better advice in Shar Rednour's "The Femme's Guide to the Universe;" Simon Doonan's "Eccentric Glamour;" and anything by Brenda Kinsel.

If you get past the name dropping and stories of celebrities and designers, it's not a bad book. Stella Ellis is a very confident, plus sized woman...as she continually tells you throughout the book. Believe me, she KNOWS she is sexy, beautiful and wonderful. And she tells you. Again and again and again. And she wants you to feel the same way. According to her story, Stella grew up in an amazing, loving, accepting environment, had a super happy childhood where she was loved and supported for being just how she is. This was followed by a fabulous, wonderful career as a makeup artist and model where she was praised for being the sexy woman she is. So, is it any wonder she exudes confidence?

Didn't have that ideal childhood? Stella says, just re-imagine how you would like it to be. Good advice, but most people picking up this book are probably not quite there yet. I'm not very confident that Stella could really comprehend the kind of baggage most plus sized women carry around. If it's true, I think her fantastically wonderful life story is an anomaly for anyone, plus sized or not.

That being said, I did like a good bit of the content, which has fashion advice as well as tips on carrying one's self in a confident way. One of my favorite chapters was "Find a Lover" which I think is great advice for anyone. I don't know if I've ever read a book that straight up suggests finding a lover as a confidence booster, but I'm all for it! She is about having fun and celebrating yourself.

So all in all, my feelings are mixed, but I think there is always some value to books which encourage us to accept ourselves as the people we are in the bodies we're born with.

I have to say after reading a few pages of this book my self esteem shot through
the roof. The encouragement is great. Sometimes we allow other peoples beliefs to become our own, but what we dont realize as BBW we still are great women with a lot of love to give inside and out. Society dont include us because they have this preception of all BBW being nasty, dirty and lazy but its not true. This book is a must read book for all the BBW who feel like they have nothing to live for. We are all beautiful no matter what anyone else think or say. Stella you go girl.

I purchased this book on a whim, and I am soooo glad that I did! As a "Plush" size woman, it can sometimes be difficult to feel good about myself in a world where thin is always in. Stella encouraged me to embrace ALL of me, and to do it NOW, not when I lose forty pounds. Her positive attitude, and helpful tips have helped me to step into the fabulous woman that I always knew I could be. I have already recommended this book to several friends. Look out world: We are fabulous, and we are here to stay!

This book was great! It was inspirational, funny and made me feel good, both while I was reading it, and afterward. The author was a size 22 model for John Galliano and other designers. She can tell you the ins and outs of looking good and having a good attitude about who you are.

I love the story behind Stella's life - it is courageous and lovely. He way of telling her life story and at the same time give great tips of how to feel better about our lives, the way we can look and feel better - and most important - just feel great about who you are. I loved the book cover and the pictures, and it is very easy read. Highly recommend!
