I bought three Graco Size4Me 70 Convertible Car Seat (Branson) to have one in each of my vehichles. Unfortunately, there is a serious design flaw. Graco customer service is sending me Fed Ex lables to return all 3 seats for a full refund. However, I believe this seat should be recalled.

When pulling the belt to tighten the harness the strap gets caught on the back of the seat. There is a little buldge where the strap is sewn into a loop. This buldge snags on the plastic guide and no matter how hard I pull I cannot get the seat to tighten. The only solution is to reach around to the back of the seat and lift the belt up over the plastic guide with one hand as you tighten the belt in the front with the other. Our baby is rear facing. I don't know how this would be possible forward facing.

I have also found that the left and right side of the harness do not tighten evenly, so you end up with one side that is loose. This is obviously not safe. Graco says the solution is to pull the legs tight, then slide the chest harness all the way down before pulling the belt tight. However, this did not seem to make a difference for me.

I would bet good money that there are lots of people driving around with loose belts thinking that since they pulled until the belt is tight they are OK and not realizing that the belt is snagged and their babies are not safe.

We got the My Size 70 and I loved the cushioning, the size, how my son fit in it, the features, easy to install... The harness sucked. Yes, many of the reviews are true. It is hard to tighten. I searched the internet and even joined the Car seats for the Littles FB group to ask questions. I could get the harness tight enough after learning some of the tricks, but it was always a fight, and when you have a squirming baby, you can't be fussing around with the straps on a car seat. You need it to work, and you need it to work NOW!

From what I have read, not everyone has problems with the harnesses on their My Size/Size4Me 70 car seats. We just happened to be some of the unlucky ones. We returned our seat to BRU last night and told the sales clerks the issue. They had never heard of the problem, but they had us put DS in their floor models to see if there was the same problem. There was. I think it comes down to a poorly designed "no-thread" harness mechanism. At the lower headrest settings, the plastic part that holds the padding sets over the harness straps and any little pressure (like your LO sitting in the seat) prevents the straps from sliding as they should. The issue is also only a problem rear facing because forward facing I figure the headrest is usually high enough to not rub the straps.

Overall, I still liked it as a car seat. I did get the harness tight enough, but I didn't think I could last years of struggling just to make sure it was. If you're lucky enough to get a batch that doesn't have harness issues, then you are lucky because you got a great car seat at a great price. It's small enough to fit in smaller cars too, in my opinion. We have a Nissan Murano, and while we didn't put it in the middle seat because there was no LATCH, we put it behind the passenger seat. The passenger seat couldn't go ALL the way back, but there was still plenty of room for my 6' 3'' husband to sit.

Despite the comments about the issue with uneven straps, I decided to order this seat as I thought I could make it work for us. However, the straps could never be adjusted quite right. Secondly, I purchased it because it is supposed to be the last car seat my child will need, good up to 70 pounds. Unfortunately, the seat is no longer usable because the protective foam in the headrest area completely popped out. The glue looks like it just dried up and the foam popped off. I discovered this because I took the cover off to wash it and the foam was just hanging there. Imagine what might have happened in a crash. I'm glad we didn't have to find out the seat was defective through a crash. You get what you pay for, so spend a little more and get something safer.

I have always bought Graco products since my 1st was born. I have always loved them because of ease of use, until this one. I bought this for our upcoming baby, and wanted to test it out. My 6 year old son, who weighs 39 lbs tried it first. I had no issues tightening the harness or getting it properly adjusted to fit him. I also tried it with my 1 year old niece (who, when properly adjusted was on the 3rd slot from the bottom)and could not get the harness to tighten evenly and I could also not get enough slack out of the harness for her to be properly adjusted in it. I could still pinch the slack in the harness, so it was not properly adjusted. I had absolutely no problems with the harness when it was not in the vehicle - only when it was properly installed in the vehicle did the car seat present problems. I should also add that I only tested the car seat installed rear facing since that would be our primary use for awhile with a newborn.

Other than the problems with the harness, install was super easy with the premium LATCH connectors. That was one thing I LOVED about this car seat. I also love that the car seat supports Extended Rear Facing with a weight limit of 40 lbs and the height below the red harness adjustment handle.

Suggestions to Graco - fix the harness issues and I would have no problems buying this car seat again.
