This works as e-cutting software should work! What you put on your "mat" in the software program gets cut as it would if you were using the machine--just as clean, just as pretty. As I mentioned in my reviews of the Cricut E2 and the Eclips, the Cricut software (Cricut Craft Room or "CCR"), though free, makes terrible cuts and is therefore useless. This software does everything it should, you can use the fonts already on your computer (from Times New Roman to Curlz, etc.), you can weld and make shadows of those fonts or whatever else you're doing, you get free updates, have the ability to use SVGs, etc., and the cuts are just as nice as when I use cartridges. Once again Sizzix does it right--love it!

After looking at the Cricut and this I went with the Sizzix because it allows me to be versatile with my designs. I purchased the Sure Cuts a Lot for the Sizzix and I can do virtually any design I want! It used to be this way with Cricut but they changed it because they wanted you to have to buy their cartridges!

There's a bit of a learning curve with it, but it's a great program that even will print out the designs so you don't waste a lot of paper and time cutting out a small design on one big 12 x 12 sheet.

If you're looking for software to use with your cutter, this one is alright. I will compare it to SCAL2 for the "green" machine, which it is supposed to replace (also using Windows).

It's nearly the same software, just for the Sizzix EClips cutting machine. You can cut nearly anything you can get on to your computer. It works along with the EClips features alright enough.

I will say that the software does lock up quite often, & not cut, just crash. I have been trying to talk with the producers for some time, but to no avail. When the software works, it isn't bad. But what isn't?

One feature that I loved with SCAL2, is the ability to print what is on the mat, via a PDF printer. You can not do that with this software. You can export a jpg image, but it's not going to be as crisp. Also, you can't edit that file, till after you close the window. A silly feature for sure.

One thing that I like, is that you can open S-2 files with this version, but. . . you can't cut them. Even saving as s-3 doesn't help, nor does copy as new. Okay, copy as new works when it wants to.

Having said that. I enjoy SCAL, & have for a few years (ECAL, only a few months). I like it over the other software, but certainly not more than S-2 (which you can't buy).

The pluses of SCAL are that it is easy to use, & (for the most part), cuts right where you want it to. The coveted P2C isn't as great as everyone says. Or at least my EClips sucks. I was thinking the laser would be more involved in the cut. Along the lines of lining the cut on to what is printed, not just hoping you line it up with registration marks (which take up way too much space).
A note about those buggers.
