Here's where EA ruins the show. A lot of people are complaining about this new money-making strategy that EA is doing where if you want to use the online features you have to buy a $10 activation add-on. The people who buy the game brand new get their very own copy, but that means people who buy the game used have to shell out extra money to play online. That's just something to know if you're buying this game used.
One more thing. Shortly after I got Skate 3, and I got to about 1.5 million boards, my PS3 broke and I bought a new one. I tried to transfer my save file to the new PS3 but EA doesn't feel that I am capable of doing that so they locked it down. Even copying over the save file from a backup didn't work which is disturbing.Read more ›
Improved walking mechanics, a few new tricks thrown in, and a skate.Park creater are just a few of the new things added to this installment of the game.
Sell boards, earn things, progress through the game having fun. That's what it's all about, in my personal opinion.
As someone who skated for four years, this game is by far the closest thing to the real deal. Tricks look amazing, set-up is basically the exact thing as in real life on hardcore mode, and I'm loving every minute of it.
This is the skate game everyone has been looking and waiting for. Sure Tony Hawk's series will forever be remembered as the beginning of something great, but EA's skate 3 tops off the genre with aplomb.
Is this new game worth your money? I was skeptic, but it was definitely worth it. What a smooth execution.
So why not go ahead and buy it now? You're missing out on something to be experienced!
There are endless new and improver features available in the 3rd Skate. The skate park builders are fantastic, the new trick are to die for, the Hall of meat is the best there is and the graphics and the whole new maps are Amazing.
Buy this game if you love skateboarding or just buy it if you like games in general!
What makes this game shine out is the realism of skateboarding. instead of using buttons to pull of tricks, Skate uses the analog sticks to move the skateboard, while you can use the triggers and buttons to do grabs or other tricks, which i have found so fun, and challenging! Also, Black Box did a magnificent job on collision detection. I found that the collision detection is so precise that you need to ollie from the street to get to a sidewalk, or else you will bail, which all skaters need to do in real life. I'm not sure if Activision ever pulled off that mechanic in its later Tony Hawk games, but i remember you could get away with skating up stairs and other obstacles that wouldn't be possible in real life. In Skate, you have to get off your skateboard and walk up the stairs, or move objects out of the way in order to pull of tricks. Enough with comparing different titles, let's talk about how Skate 3 compares with the earlier Skate games!
In my opinion, Skate 3 does better and worse in some features that Skate and Skate 2 had to offer. First, the actual Skating mechanic, as i mentioned above, has vastly improved from both Skate games, and makes it so much more realistic and fun! All 3 games had the precise collision detection, but Skate 3 wins in the skating, and has a lot more tricks you can pull off.Read more ›
